American Airlines cancellations: What is wrong with the planes?
Found two graphics on the wires today that explains the inspections on the American Airlines MD-80 planes. Turns out the problem is in wire bundlings inside the wheel wells. But this isn't the first time an airline grounded the plane for the same problem. Read on:

This is one more example of the failure of decontrol.
Like a cancer, erosion of industry profitablily has left the US with a "vintage" collection of old airplanes that are having maintenance issues and safety problems.
Removal of government oversight lead to S&L failures, the current mortgage crisis, and the pending hedge fund collapse.
Government is a good thing. We should not continue our slide in to some post-capitalist anarchy.
