President Obama's order to close the prisons at Guantanamo Bay within a year has been met with high praise from several U.S. generals and world leaders. I produced this News Illustrated on the right in 2006 to show the journey of those prisoners, including how the first cells looked like. Since the first camps were opened in 2002, more than 750 detainees were believed to have been taken to Gitmo. Below you'll find an Associated Press chart showing how many of those detainees were released to the American base within the past 7 years. It's unclear how many remain in Cuba today.
