Mayan countdown calendar to 2012 doomsday?
According to some, the Mayan Calendar is counting down to the Earth's demise. Dec. 21, 2012. How will it end do you ask? An asteroid impact? Maybe strange cosmic alignments will rip the Earth apart? Or... Nothing! Whatever happens we will all have the next fours years, and counting, to talk about it. Good luck!
Check out our Mayan calendar interactive to see how it works.

Oh! And for those who want to keep up with our impending doom, like me, we have this convenient countdown widget available to post to your Web site, Facebook page, Myspace... You get the idea! Just click get & share on the bottom of the clock.

The Mayan calendar is cyclical...as one ends andother begins. When our calendar ends, another year begins. The end of the world doesn't happen.
See you in 2013.

Nobama will destroy civilization well before 2013. Just ask the guy who runs the printing dept. at the US mint. Or your twelve year old.

I'll see Keith on the other side of 2012, as well. And reading some other posts, the interesting thing about doomsdays is that they tend to 'cull the herd', so to speak.
Unfortunate, but often true.
It's just a new cycle. The Mayan calendar is akin to an odometer turning over to read all 0s again. The calendar will then repeat itself, as any does. It has also been reported to be rather historically accurate, as far as many upheavals, times of peace and prosperity, war, weather, etc., all of it based on cycles of interconnecting happenings. Of course, the study of it is very intricate and primitive, as is the calendar itself.
Not to mention, many of us have witnessed some the most amazing and remarkable moments of world history. This generation has witnessed the ushering in of a new century, AND a new millennium. That's incredibly rare, mathematically. Add this calendar to the mix and you have an event (literally) for the ages. Pisces to Aquarius, in this case, looking at it celestially.
Nothing to fear except fear itself.

I do not believe in the end of the world as of 12/12/2012.
However,
If you do a little homework on the topic, it is pretty interesting.

The world ended in 1978 when Lucas ran the Star Wars Holiday Special. It was so bad, reality ceased to exist rather than risk a reshowing. Since then we have all been living in a computer simulation designed by Walt Disney.

12/21/12 is my old wedding anniversary...I am now divorced...
12/22/12 is my 72nd. birthday...
An opportune time to throw a great party (using my credit cards ) and not being woried about paying the bill..
Too old to care if the world continues and the credit cards companies try and collect and old enough to realize that I amn living on borrowed time anyway.

The Mayans are dead and gone.
And since they weren't smart enough to see that coming, what makes you think they are correct about anything else?

This is terrible news for the Cubs.

The Mayan and Aztec's had the most advanced writing system in the Americas prior to European contact. They used sophisticated math systems and had complex and useful cyclical calendars. Spectacular art and monumental architecture were two other notable accomplishments of this civilization. Believe or don't believe who know's about 2012? This is a link to a youtube video explaining there civilization and touching on 2012. .

Does this mean I don't have to worry about global warming, or paying my mortgage, or how much Barry taxes me?

You won't have to wait that long. Give Obama another year to decimate the US economy and pull troups out of the Middle East. Nuclear war will break out first will Iran and Israel, followed quickly by strikes between Pakistan and India. This will free up North Korea, China and Russia to attack the US. Russia will swarm over Europe without any resistance and China will take over Korea, Tiawan, Asia and Japan. A new world order will emerge with half the world's population dead from nuclear strikes.

I agree!!! I have been around a long time, and since my time of knowledge I have heard the panic and pandemonium of the words "the world is going to end the year XXXX" about 3 times. So far, guess what, where still here.
