THE SPOILS OF DROUGHT

The Chicago area is now classified as being in an extreme drought and the parched soils and lack of rainfall are taking a toll on area vegetation. Many thanks to viewer Bonny Goldberg of Park City, Illinois who sent this picture of a corn field located just north of Gurnee Mills. In her own words, the moisture starved corn field looks more like a "pineapple field."
