Christie Brinkley and Peter Cook hiding out at homes

While the celeb press waits breathlessly for a peek at the train wreck that is the Christie Brinkley-Peter Cook marriage, the principals are said to be coolly holed up and holding out.

Brinkley, who has famously insisted that the divorce court be open to the press when the divorce trial begins Wednesday in Central Islip, is “keeping a low profile” at her Bridgehampton estate, Tower Hill, according to People magazine. She has the property on the market for $30 million.

In its July 7 issue, People reports that Cook, who wanted the courtroom sealed, is keeping busy running his architecture firm from his two-story Hamptons house. It is not clear if this is the North Haven house that Brinkley bought for Cook for $7 million “because Peter very much wanted, as an architect, to take a property and make a Peter Cook house for their family," a source has said.

The marriage careened off the tracks two years ago when Brinkley learned that her husband of 10 years had been bedding his teenage assistant at the North Haven house. The assistant Diana Bianchi, then 18, is expected to take the stand in the trial.

The People article quotes supportive friends of each. The only snarl comes from one of Cook’s attorneys, who is not identified. Brinkley, the lawyer says, “seems more interested to go to trial. She wants a public flogging of this man.” And not a dunking stool or the stocks? Shocking!
