Retired Jet Curtis Martin takes Garden City condo off market

curtismartin3.jpg

Retired Jets running back Curtis Martin has taken his Garden City condo off the market. A source tells REAL LI that Martin made the decision to pull the $3.099 million listing because he had no offers on the property.

Martin purchased the 3,500-square-foot luxury penthouse in 1998 for $819,000, public records show. Last November, he put the two-bedroom, three-bath apartment on the market with Century 21 Laffey in Manhasset.

The home has fireplaces in the living and dining rooms and a master bedroom with a Jacuzzi. The building has an indoor pool, a gym, concierge service and valet parking.

Former Jets and New York Giants coach Bill Parcells used to live in the luxury development. Current residents include Nassau County Tax Assessor Harvey Levinson and former Hofstra University president James Shuart.

Century 21 Laffey snags Woodbury condos

Emmett Laffey, principal and chief executive officer of Century 21 Laffey, announced in a recent video e-mail that his firm now represents the Preserve at Woodbury. The Multiple Listing Service of Long Island listing for the 32-unit luxury townhouse-style condo development had been with Coldwell Banker. But when the listing expired, husband-and-wife Greenvale office agents Barry Paley and Deborah Paley and their manager Maria Babaev made a presentation to become the exclusive agents. "It was a very sought-after project, and competition was fierce," Laffey says in the video. They won the project. Across the street from the Crest Hollow Country Club, the Preserve now has 15 condos still for sale for " a combined value of more than $20 million," says Laffey.

Brookville's 'highest point' for sale

Century 21 Laffey in Greenvale has just put open land on the market said to be at Brookville's "highest elevation." The two parcels, at 3-1/2 acres each, are being marketed for $2.6 million and $2.7 million. They can also be bought as one seven-acre parcel for $5.3 million. According to listing agent Barry Paley's Web site, each lot can accommodate a 10,000- to 12,000-square foot home and has permits. "The land is up a beautiful country road," says Paley. "When you drive up, you feel like you're in the deepest part of Vermont." As for the views? "Once a house is built on the site, you'll be able from the second floor to see the Tam O'Shanter Club," Paley says. The property, in the Jericho school district, is near the Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's home.

Former Jet Curtis Martin selling Garden City condo

Newsday has confirmed that retired New York Jets running back Curtis Martin is selling his two-bedroom, three-bath penthouse condo in the Wyndham development in Garden City.

The 3,500-square-foot luxury apartment has a living room with a fireplace, as well as a formal dining room, an eat-in-kitchen, a dining room with a fireplace and a balcony. The master bedroom has a bath with a Jacuzzi. The building has an indoor pool, a gym, concierge service and valet parking.

The price: $3.099 million. Annette Marinello of Century 21 Laffey in Manhasset has the listing, but declined to identify her client.

Martin has denied recent published reports that he planned to buy a $7 million waterfront penthouse in Brooklyn. The football superstar told The New York Times in September that it made no sense for him to buy more New York real estate if his dream of owning an NFL team ultimately took him out of the area.

Former Jets and New York Giants coach Bill Parcells used to live in the luxury development. Current residents include Nassau County Tax Assessor Harvey Levinson and former Hofstra University president James Shuart.

House hunting by phone?

In certain countries, notably Japan and South Korea, the cell phone can buy instant noodles at vending machines, pay for train tickets and even analyze blood glucose levels for diabetics.

The United States is behind, but now on Long Island, Century 21 Laffey Associates has begun using the cell phone to not just send alerts of new property listings but also photos, agent's phone numbers and other information. By going onto the Greenvale-based company's Web site, anyone can search for a listing and type in a mobile number to send the information.

Since the company launched the high-tech tool a few weeks ago, traffic on the Web site has increased almost 10 percent.

The company's chief executive, Emmett Laffey, said it's a new way of engaging house hunters, who are increasingly using the Internet to narrow their house-hunting options.

“We envision mobile technology to become the number one way consumers shop for a home in the future," Laffey said, "and the future is now."

Real estate agent dishes about Lindsay Lohan's dad

122887.jpg

The New York Post's Page Six column reported today that Virginia Bertolino was jilted by Huntington native Michael Lohan, troubled actress Lindsay Lohan's father. Bertolino, who works in the Jericho office of Century 21 Laffey Associates, told the Post that she found out this week that he was dating another woman (tabloids have reported that she's a Lindsay Lohan look-alike). "He's very sexual," Bertolino is quoted as saying. "I thought we had great sex." (She went on. Read it here.) Michael Lohan denies having that kind of relationship with her. Bertolino could not be reached for further comment.
