How Jennifer Lopez looks at home on Long Island

ellelopez.jpg

Jennifer Lopez didn't like the interview she gave to a fashion magazine, so Tina Brown decided to run it on her Daily Beast site. In it, Lopez says she once had a nervous breakdown, might send Max and Emme to Scientology school and doesn't want to get into her reasons for not breastfeeding.

But the really juicy stuff is about her Brookville estate and what goes inside there.

" 'Don't blow the horn,' I tell my driver as we approach the gates. 'I'm sure we're being watched. A guard will appear,' " writes Kevin Sessums. "Sure enough, the ornate iron gates swing open and a large Latin guard speeds toward us on a Segway Human Transporter, his ear glued to a walkie-talkie."

Sessums continues, "I'm here to see Miss Lopez," I inform him as glares at me through the window. We are led through a canopy of beech trees and oaks on the immaculately manicured grounds of the Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez estate on the North Shore of Long Island."

The driver parks "behind a $300,000 Audie Spyker sports car" from which Anthony "emerges from the driver's side and stares back at me. In a T-shirt and a pair of clam diggers that reveal a tattoo on his right calf, he strides into the house through a side door without a word."

Sessums meets Lopez "in a dimly lit pine study filled with gold records and Grammy awards." She feels sick, her "unwashed hair is pulled severely back and there's a halo of frizz around the crown of her head. She wears no make-up, her eyes are glassy, and her feverish cheeks are aglow."

At one point, Max begins to cry. Lopez runs up and grabs both twins and sits with them through the interview.

"Emme's ears are already pierced with tiny gold hoops in them. Max is wearing a black onesie with an array of sequins on its back."

How JLo got into shape at her Brookville home

Jenniferoct.jpg

Jennifer Lopez trained for her California triathlon last month mostly inside her Brookville gym, reports Celebrity Baby Blog. "While her indoors-only technique might be perceived as unconventional by her fellow triathletes, it did offer the unique advantage of added time with the twins," according to the blog. Reporting on an "Entertainment Tonight" interview with Lopez, the blog quotes her as saying, "I could just throw the babies in a little playpen on the floor, or their little mat. They'd just be right there, and if they got cranky I'd pick them up and put them on my lap while I rode the bike." Read more about Lopez's house -- and see photos -- by clicking here.

Is J.Lo's Brookville home a house or an estate?

ellecover.jpg

The Elle writer who interviewed Jennifer Lopez at her Brookville home for the magazine's September cover story writes that “'house' is an understatement on par with calling Stephen Hawking 'bright.' It’s less house than estate — compound, even — hidden behind a gate at the end of an all-but-unlabeled street that I completely overshot while driving here. It’s less 'MTV’s Cribs' than it is Robb Report." Lopez gives the interview in her office, which the writer describes as "less workspace than trophy room. As it should be, really; with Lopez and her husband, Marc Anthony, having sold nearly 50 million albums worldwide between them, that’s a lot of platinum and gold plaques to display on the dark-honey wood walls. Add in the various Grammys, AMAs, and other awards, and I half expect to see a PhD diploma in astrophysics tucked in among the hardware. But there’s a desk, so it’s an office — and behind the desk sits Jennifer Lopez." Read more about Lopez's house -- and see photos -- here.

They're sleeping through the night at JLo's Brookville pad

That's what Jennifer Lopez tells ABC's "Good Morning America," as you'll see from this clip. Max and Emme are indeed sleeping at the same time, too. Which is good for Lopez, who is now training for a triathlon this fall.

In the meantime, Star reports that Lopez and husband, Marc Anthony, spend "thousands of dollars a week on baby clothes" and that the twins "rarely wear the same thing twice." In fact, much of what they wear is "designer."

And more news from Brookville's most famous resident: New York magazine reports that Lopez will "executive-produce an adaptation of her 2002 chick flick, 'Maid in Manhattan,' creating a series about a 'young Latina from the Bronx working at a Manhattan hotel who tries to make it in the world.' "

Upper Brookville's 'Gossip Girl' house for sale

villaatchestnut2.jpg

If you've got $12.9 million and are a big fan of television's "Gossip Girl", why not buy this 5-acre estate where two episodes of the show's upcoming season were filmed?

The Villa at Chestnut Hill, where scenes for a "white party" for the show take place, has just gone on the market with Shawn Elliott Luxury Homes & Estates. The gated five-bedroom mansion boasts nearly 15,000 square feet, a grand foyer with dual wraparound staircases, a 65-foot ballroom, a gym and a glass-enclosed salt water swimming pool. The third story cupola affords a 365-degree view of the manicured grounds and neighboring Planting Fields Arboretum.

The listing agents are Angela Rothenberg and Kim Greenberg. Greenberg owns the home with fiancee and real estate developer, Fred Rudd. The former owner was chop-shop king Michael Pescatore.

Greenberg and Rudd have made many improvements to the property since purchasing it from the government for $8.3 million in 2007, beating out dozens of bidders. "They went above and beyond in every detail," Elliott says. "They've taken it to a level far above the previous owner."

Elliott says that recently, a Kohl's commercial was filmed at the estate, and in June rapper Ludacris filmed an At&T commericial there as well.

What gets shipped to J.Lo at her Brookville home

lopezitaly.jpg

It appears as though Jennifer Lopez is in diva overdrive. The singer-actress-designer is reportedly wreaking havoc all over the North Shore for two reasons: Max and Emme, her 4-month old twins.

According to Star magazine, Jennifer Lopez, who lives in Brookville, “wants everything with the newborns to be handled perfectly, and she trusts nobody to do it right. Not even her hubby, Marc Anthony,” says an insider.

It was also noted that Lopez requested a children’s store in Greenvale — Funky Monkey — to close to the public while she shopped as well as boss around retail staffers at the Tony Americana Manhasset. Oh, and she enforces a strict gag order on those who ring up her purchases at such places as Scoop in Greenvale.

Fortunately for the general public, the queen is not always out. The article went on to say that Lopez receives two daily shipments of whatever she wants at the gated home, plus daily shipments of pre-made meals. Since the babies were born, deliveries are now made to the security guard at the gate.

What it sounds like at JLo's house in Brookville

jlobabies.jpg

Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony became famous for their voices, so it should come as no surprise, if you believe one report, that their Brookville house is all about sound. "All you can hear is noise," a source tells Star magazine. "Screaming, phones ringing, babies crying, TVs blaring. It's madness." And the noise level has gotten worse since Lopez' mother, Guadalupe, moved in to help the twins, Max and Emme. Read more about the Lopez-Anthony house -- and see photos -- here.

Jennifer Lopez' mother moves into Brookville home

guadalupe.jpg

Guadalupe Lopez, Jennifer Lopez's mother, has moved into her daughter and son-in-law Marc Anthony's Brookville home to be near her grandchildren, Max and Emme, reports In Touch Weekly. "Jennifer has been having her mom stay at their home to help out with the kids," a source tells the magazine. "She likes having her around, even if it's just to ask her advice."

And there's more news from the magazine about life inside the gated Long Island home: Lopez "exercises late at night," doing "squats and lunges in between feedings when she can't get back to sleep." Other times, "she'll hit her home gym at 4 a.m. to work out before the babies wake up."

Cornelia Guest selling Old Westbury estate for $20 million

guest.jpg

Heiress, actress and socialite Cornelia Guest has put her 15-acre Old Westbury estate on the market for $20 million. Public records show that the property includes a two-story brick Colonial home built in 1924, with 9 ½ baths and 5 fireplaces. The grounds include a pool, tennis courts, and a greenhouse. The home is listed with Wendy Grant of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty.

Guest is the daugther of the legendary garden writer, equestrian and society doyenne, C.Z. Guest, who died in 2003. The family moved to Old Westbury in 1968, after selling 150 acres in Brookville that is now the De Seversky Center of the New York Institute of Technology.

Guest became famous in the 1980s as the blueblooded beauty who was dubbed “debutante of the decade” by Andy Warhol, once dated Sylvester Stallone, and was a regular at Studio 54, along with friends-relatives, Richard and Robert DuPont. She is also related to Winston Churchill, who was her father’s cousin.

These days, Guest has become better known for her philanthropic and fund-raising efforts in support of causes like the Humane Society of New York.

Inside the Brookville home of J-Lo and Mark Anthony

jlotwins.jpg
Jennifer Lopez and month-old twins Max and Emme grace the cover of the March 31 issue of People magazine which hit newsstands today, complete with glossy interior and exterior photos of the Brookville home that Lopez shares with husband Marc Anthony.

The magazine declares, “the family’s redbrick mansion is kid country, with his and her rocking ducks from FAO Schwarz, a pink pedal car for Emme and a yellow one for Max, and two baby nurses on round-the-clock duty.” Lopez and Anthony are pictured outside the home pushing matching $3,000 prams, said to be gifts from their friends Eva Longoria Parker and Ken Paves. A 1962 Mercedes 190SL sits outside the home's columned portico. The pair are said to have just emerged from three months of seclusion at the estate.

The nursery, complete with wrought-iron cribs and crystal chandelier, is decorated in soft cream-colored tones. “Their room is right next to ours,” Lopez tells People. The proud parents are shown feeding the babies in front of a fireplace in the room.

Anthony says that just hours before a scheduled C-Section, Lopez was busy decorating a downstairs bedroom, and rearranging furniture.

The action continues at J.Lo's Brookville estate

HOUSEBROOKVILLE.JPG

Today real estate sources tell RealLI that an extension is being put on new parents Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's 10,000-square-foot home in Brookville. (Read more about the house here.) In the meantime, London's Daily Mirror is reporting that the twins are receiving massages from a professional masseuse. And the newborns are getting two Shetland ponies. Lopez and Anthony have also reportedly hired a color therapist for Max and Emme's nursery. "Jennifer has gone all out to give the twins an amazing childhood," the tabloid reports. "She had the nursery painted a beautiful aquamarine and light blue -- colors which are supposed to have intelligence-boosting properties." Then there's this from Britain's Daily Mirror: Lopez has turned into a "germaphobe" since having the babies. To that end, she has supposedly banned flowers and presents to make sure the nursery is spotless. "She is also paranoid about hygiene. The twins' wing is totally sterile, and all flowers and presents are stored in a separate area so they don't contaminate the babies' area," according to the newspaper. "It may sound excessive, but she only has her kids' best interests at heart and wants to give them the start in life she never had." The newspaper reports that guests are asked to wear masks and use anti-germ lotion before going inside the nursery.

J.Lo's next-door neighbor in Brookville is selling house

brookvillenabe.jpg

No word on whether the twins' cries are keeping them up all night, but Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's next-door neighbors in Brookville are selling their house. The asking price is $2.299 million.

The five-room, four-bath, one half-bath Colonial was built in 1972. "Enter through estate gates at the end of a private and lovely tree-lined street," writes listing agent Regina Rogers of the Locust Valley office of Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate in the description of the house. She is referring to the "million-dollar gates" fortified at the Lopez and Anthony property in anticipation of the birth of their son and daughter, Max and Emme. Apparently the owner, a divorce attorney who put the house on the market Sunday, also lives behind those gates on a separate 2.25-acre property.

"In order to access this house, you have to enter through the estate gates," says Rogers. "I love the approach, and the long Belgian block-lined bluestone driveway."

The house she's selling, she says, "is wonderful for entertaining," with two wood-burning fireplaces, and has "a lot of wonderful architectural detail throughout."

More details on J.Lo's Brookville nursery

jennifer.JPG

Brookville resident Jennifer Lopez is "the real suburban deal," designer Michael Kors tells People in its latest issue. (According to the article, Kors "grew up 20 minutes away" from Lopez and husband Marc Anthony's mansion.) Lopez is apparently having twins, as Real LI has noted -- a boy and a girl. And the mother-to-be is setting up one of three nurseries at the Brookville home. Baby boutique Petit Tresor is designing the nurseries on Long Island and in Los Angeles and Miami with "traditional sleigh cribs and Unltrasuede gliders from Europe," as well as "silk and organza sheet sets" with the babies' names embroidered on the linens "later on." Says a source: "She's very involved with everything. Her taste is very elegant ... very luxurious."

Century 21 Laffey in Greenvale has just put open land on the market said to be at Brookville's "highest elevation." The two parcels, at 3-1/2 acres each, are being marketed for $2.6 million and $2.7 million. They can also be bought as one seven-acre parcel for $5.3 million. According to listing agent Barry Paley's Web site, each lot can accommodate a 10,000- to 12,000-square foot home and has permits. "The land is up a beautiful country road," says Paley. "When you drive up, you feel like you're in the deepest part of Vermont." As for the views? "Once a house is built on the site, you'll be able from the second floor to see the Tam O'Shanter Club," Paley says. The property, in the Jericho school district, is near the Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony's home.

According to the November cover story, her favorite dishes are "Nuyorican staples like breaded chicken and yellow rice" and her favorite movie is "Finding Nemo." Anthony -- who, the story says, calls Lopez "Lola," even though her name is "tattooed in cursive on his wrist" -- bought the house in 2000 for $3.7 million, four years before they married.
