Natalie Portman moves back on Long Island, for now

Oscar-nominated actress Natalie Portman is back to her Long Island roots, living with mom and dad in Cold Spring Harbor, at least for now.

When Portman, who grew up in Jericho, appeared on David Letterman’s talk show last week, she told Letterman, “I'm a Long Island girl…I’m homeless right now and residing with my parents. Its rough. I'm old to be residing with a parent.”

Portman, who sold her three-bedroom vacation home in Sea Cliff last year for $1.75 million, also recently went into contract to sell the condo she owns on Charles Street in lower Manhattan. That property is listed for $6.55 million.

The globe-trotting Portman told Letterman that this is the first election that she voted in person, rather than by absentee ballot. “I went (to vote) on Turkey Lane... At the high school gym…I was shocked how long it took. I felt like the people running it were 100 years old. Were they volunteers? I dont want to be a jerk about volunteers because that’s what we should all be doing.”

Perry Como's grandson selling Huntington house

Late crooner Perry Como never got to see his grandson Peter's Huntington house, but he would have liked it, says Kim Como, Peter Como's wife who is listing the house on behalf of the Cold Spring Harbor office of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty. "He was such a modest guy," says Kim Como of Perry Como, who once lived in Sands Point. "We just loved our cozy little house, just like he would have." The asking price for the 1920 Craftsman-style home is $569,000. The four-bedroom, two-bath house went on the market in October, and the Comos accepted an offer, but the deal fell through right before Thanksgiving. The property has in-ground sprinklers, central air conditioning and, in the back, an electric awning and a deck. Peter Como, one of 13 grandchildren, is moving with Kim and their two sons, Oscar and Henry, 8 and 6, to Cold Spring Harbor, where they are restoring a house. Como, a New York City firefighter and flight instructor, is also a volunteer firefighter in Cold Spring Harbor, where he grew up.
