I managed to get a copy today of Jose Canseco's new book, "Vindicated." Here are details. Proper credit should be paid to freelance writer Joe Lavin, who got the first look, and to Deadspin (link on the left side), which made sure that Lavin's discovery got play.

I am not even sure this technically qualifies as circumstantial evidence. During that particular period of time I am sure a large majority of players were interested in PEDs. That doesn't mean a large majority actually used them. A-Rod appears to have tremendous natural talent and a tremendous work ethic. I would need a lot more evidence to even begin to think it is possible he has used PEDs. Canseco has obviously replaced Bobby Valentine as the "most hated man in baseball." The guy just won't go away.
Canseco is the only one who has told the truth, why wouldn't I believe him now?
The accusations: A-Rod was showed interest in PEDs. A-Rod showed interest in Canseco's wife. What does any of this prove? What does it mean?
Canseco hasn't lied so far, why shouldn't I believe him now?
Who is accusing him of lying? But, what exactly is he accusing A-Rod of doing?
Canseco obviously hates A-Rod to no end. If he had dirt on him, he would have been shouting it for years. He obviously despises the guy for chasing his wife, so anything he says about A-Rod is tainted.
Also, A-Rod's history is his best defense: he was a superstar at 17. He was already big and strong then, and better than everyone else -- A-Rod is the one guy whose history you look at and say, "Nah, he didn't need steroids."
I don't believe Canseco -- he's using the success of his first book to smear A-Rod with this one.
At least Canseco has improved regarding his actions when his wife is involved. He used to try to ram their cars with his car. Now he "dedicates" the end of a chapter to A-Rod.
As for Mike Wallace wanting to know about HgH etc. - he probably wanted to try to hit on Canseco's wife, too.
Next up, Chico Escuela and "Bad Things About the Mets 2"
Ken - do you think Jeter will take the opportunity to back A-Rod?
If he doesn't, Derek looks like a complete jerk! (Time for Billy Crystal, but no props for his third baseman?)
LOL, rmt. I think Jeter can probably wave this one away, saying he doesn't want to get involved.
Hey, Jim, congrats on getting someone to name him- (or her-) self after you! I've been at this for nearly a year, but not a single anti-Ken!
There you go.
Bring on another round of Congressional hearings! Another Mitchell Report. More indictments, confessions, inquiries, recorded phone calls. Find all the evidence, put it on trial, publish it, and send the whole bill to MLB!
Canseco's book is out - and so is the President of the Hall of Fame, Dale Petrofsky. The reasons are vague but appear to be regarding short term finances
If any of you are good accountants, www.guidestar.com has the 990's under "national baseball hall of fame and museum".
Thanks, Anti-Ken!
Your welcome!
Let's go Rangers!
Ken, do you think the Mets can win it all this year?
Yes, Jim, although the official predictions are coming out on Friday.
I wish I was a Met.
Ken - The "Jim" that asked about the Mets is not the "Jim" that spoke with you at the BBWAA dinner. I guess that I will have to identify myself some other way. I'll let you know how when I figure it out.
Yeah, I was wondering about that, Jim, given your Yankees leanings. I'll change the other guy to Jim (Mets fan). As long as you always leave your e-mail address on your comments, I'll ensure that you can retain your status as Plain Old "Jim" here.
Let's go Mets!
