Contest: Name Bobby Murcer's 31 broadcast partners

tribute.jpg
In his book, "Yankee for Life," the late Bobby Murcer mentions that he worked with 31 broadcast partners over his years in the Yankees' booth, which were 1984, 1986-89 and 1991 until earlier this year. He did both radio (WABC 770) and TV (Channels 2, 5 and 11; SportsChannel, MSG and YES).

I came up with 29 on my own, found a 30th mentioned in the book and learned the 31st from Yankees PR maven Marty Appel.

So here's the deal: The first one to name all 31 partners, I'll send you my copy of Bobby's book. It's a remarkable book. If no one can name all 31, then I'll send the book to the person who gives me the most correct answers in the next 24 hours.

Don't put them on here, because then, you can cheat off of each other. Instead, e-mail them to me at kdavidoff@newsday.com.

This photo was the July 16 service in the Bronx to remember Murcer. It was provided by Yankees adviser Ray Negron, who organized the service. His new children's book, "The Greatest Story Never Told: The Babe and Jackie," is available in book stores today.

Ken, does spelling count and can we research it on the internet?

LOL, Dennis. Spelling doesn't count. Internet research is up to you. It's not like I'll know if you used it or not.

Ken I hope you post those answers tomorrow or sometime soon, I'd love to know for sure who's who and what's what. Great contest by the way, should do it more often.

Let's see - if I remember correclty, it was Mel Allen, Curt Gowdy, Jim Palmer, Dick Enberg, Tim McCarver, Dick Vitale and Dr. Joyce Brothers....no, that was the broadcast booth in Naked Gun....
