GMs' meetings: Matt Holliday just arrived

It's rare to see a player at these meetings, but Scott Boras was holding court when one of his top clients, Matt Holliday, entered the hotel. Boras quickly excused himself and headed to an elevator bank with Holliday.
Not sure what Holliday is doing here, but it's well known that the Rockies are open to trading him, and that whoever acquires him will be renting Holliday for just one year, since Holliday can be a free agent next year and no Boras client passes up free agency.

Whoever acquires Holliday, the team that gets him will have to give the Rockies some top prospects and also realize Boras will take Holliday to free agency. Is it worth it? Yes, but their's no guaranteed Holliday will re-sign.
El Duque as a closer? I doubt it. He's not durable enough to pitch back-to-back days and he's old and done.
I might be ahead of your next entry, Ken, but I am SO glad to see Giambi go. I really despised him as a player and person, even though I believe you redeemed him somewhat in some of your writings. He was such an insult to the great tradition of Yankee 1st basemen - Chambliss, Spencer, Mattingly, Tino, Watson, and Balboni - not to mention Gehrig. (Tino was no saint, either, I understand.) Anyway, I look forward to seeing who's on first next season.
And Pavano - a genious for getting all that cash!
