Yankees DVD Contest, Day 2

reggie.jpg

In yesterday's contest, I initially identified four players from 1976 ALCS Game 5 who had brothers or sons who made the major leagues. In an event that was precedented, it turned out I goofed. There were five such players, not four.

Dennis, not shockingly, was the first person to come up with four correct names. J-Rock came up with all five, once I amended the item from "four" to "five." So, after consulting with the Rules Committee, I decided that both J-Rock and Dennis should receive this DVD _ and therefore be eliminated from winning another one.

Anyway, with that bookkeeping out of the way, let's move onto today's question, and we'll keep it simple to avoid more trouble.

In 1977 World Series Game 6, as we all remember, Reggie Jackson hit three homers to lead the Yankees to a Series-clinching, 8-4 victory over the Dodgers. Name the three Los Angeles pitchers who gave up homers to Jackson in that game.

The first person to e-mail me at kdavidoff@newsday.com with the correct answer will receive the DVD.

Thanks to this site for the photo.

UPDATE: We have a winner! Jeffrey was the first person to correctly identify Burt Hooton, Elias Sosa and Charlie Hough as the three pitchers who surrendered homers to Reggie. Another contest coming tomorrow.

I know the answers to the question. One of the pitchers that Reggie Jackson hit a home run off was a Knuckleball pitcher name Charlie Hough who gave up the 3rd of the 3 Home runs that Reggie hit that night. The other 2 pitchers I will metion later.

Congrats to Jeffrey. Burt Hooton and Elias Sosa were the other 2 pitchers besides Charlie Hough who Reggie hit the 3 home runs off of. Reggie swung on the 1st pitch for all 3 home runs.

The Post says they are dropping the hammer on you. If so it is a shame.
The news division does a passable job, oped is pathetic. I buy the paper to get your baseball insights, Bob's football point of view.
It is getting very, very hard to justify purchasing the paper when they are firing the writer I want to read. Is content destruction the new business model?
Sounds like something Best's good time Ivy League Wall Street pals would come up with. Let the powers that be know that I am booing them right now.

James Dolan went to SUNY New Paltz. Don't associate him with my conference!

How does the NBA let a guy who was in drug rehab own a franchise? Seriously, if a person couldn't pass a league drug test, how can he be allowed to be in charge of anything connected with the NHL or NBA?

Double standard?

Bob I dunno but America elected a president who spent his 30s in a haze of booze and drugs.
I give Newsday less than a year before the Dolans have run it into the ground. Just like
everything else they have touched in their miserable lives.

I bet the Dolan family envies and hates the Maras. The Maras are everything the
Dolans want to be, rich, beloved, successful and cute. Meanwhile the Dolans are
despised and looked at as buffoons by everyone who has had the misfortune to come into
contact with them.
It's sort of like the NY version of the Kennedys and Bushes where the kennedys
are the beloved family full of beautiful, successful people who can do no
wrong and on the other hand are the Bushes, who destroyed nearly everything they put their hands on. And beware!! JEB Bush is on his way back!

Never get in a car with a teenaged (or adult( Kennedy or Bush...there are still trees in Charlottesville VA that haven't recovered from Teddy's law school daze.

I can almost understand forgiving some athletes because they are good and have accomplished something on the field - but what have the younger Dolans ever done besides be members of the lucky sperm club?

High unbalanced analogy Sandy, holding the Kennedys as a standard is sadly misguided. Mary Jo Kopechne would explain that in detail if she could.
