Yankees DVD Contest, Day 8
Time again to give away a copy of this DVD.
Let's focus today on August 6, 1979, when the Yankees defeated the Orioles, 5-4, just hours after burying their captain Thurman Munson. Bobby Murcer, who delivered one of the eulogies at Munson's funeral, drove in all five runs for the Yankees, including a game-ending, two-run single.
Who was the Yankees' starting catcher, in Munson's place, that night?
The first person to correctly e-mail me the answer at kdavidoff@newsday.com will get a copy of the DVD. No repeat winners from the first seven days.
Thanks to this site for the photo.
UPDATE, 3:25 p.m.: We have a winner! Loyal commenter Jack knew that Brad Gulden started at catcher for the Yankees on that memorable night. Stop by again tomorrow.
