What?

Just in case anyone out there really thought David Wright endorses faith healing, here's a little statement from the Mets to clear things up. Enjoy.

Joint Statement of David Wright and the New York Mets

David Wright and the New York Mets have no affiliation or association whatsoever with the event entitled 'Salvation Miracles Revival Crusade,’ and neither approve of nor endorse the event. The recent TV ad about the event was produced without authorization or approvals through an abuse of a media-newsgathering credential.

David wants to express the following: ‘I believed that I was accommodating an agency which had been authorized by the Mets. One of the greatest things about playing and living in New York is the diversity of its people and the diversity of our fans. Religion is purely a private matter and I would never endorse one religion over another. For anyone who was offended by the commercial please accept my sincere apology.’

The Mets did not and would not endorse any such event or allow their logos and trademarks be used in such a fashion. The TV spots have been pulled and will not air again. We apologize for any problems or confusion that may have been caused by this unauthorized action.

So, is this so called declaration of David Wright any where reminiscent of the Mike Piazza "I am not gay " news fiasco from a couple of years ago ? Honestly folks, does anyone really care about a ballplayers supposed religious affiliation? Does anyone really want to know if Mike Piazza is a switch-hitter? Does he wear his sisters dresses? The answer is no... so keep it between the lines and stay out of the closets. This is baseball right? It is ugly to see how far a reporter will search for a headline.

I guess the Mets did what they felt they had to do. After all, they have their trademark to protect. If another company is using David Wright's name and the Mets logo to promote its event without the Mets permission, then the Mets are 100% right about protecting their interests.

I saw these spots and was so confused. David was obviously reading from a cue card--all about an evangelical gathering. I kept wondering what that had to do with the Mets.

The only thing I could come up with was that Julio Franco's at bat music says something about "Jesus is coming," so I wondered if he had asked the guys to endorse something he's involved with. That doesn't seem to be the case.

But you gotta love David Wright. He'll endorse anything he thinks is involved with the Mets.

Zoe David Wright will never endorse your book, alright?Don't even think about asking him. Stop looking for handouts and trying to draw attention to your "non-baseball" book. This is a baseball blog. Not Oprah's book club. Don't be a goldbricker posting your Oprah moments here....

I only post comments here about the Mets or what's written about in the post. You guys seem to be the ones wanting to mention my book.

But just to clarify (again) about my site, MLB.com asked me to write with them on the Mets. In fact, here is a quote from the email I was originally sent:

"You should start a Mets blog there, and that would be another cool marketing tool for you. In fact, I could create a nice panel display on the MLBlogs.com homepage with a graphic that has a Mets action shot as the background, with your book and a pic of you overlaid on it, linking to your introductory post. Then occasionally blog a little Mets baseball and a little book publicity along the way this season to an equal-gender crowd as it seems like Mets fever is only going to get more intense down the stretch."

Zoe,we want you to go away--you are nothing but a fraud.

Mr. Met supports your right to post anything you want, although Frank D.'s "don't be a goldbricker posting your Oprah moments here" line was pretty damn funny. Mr. Met doesn't suppose any of the friends in your pictures are single, are they.....?

My "authentic Mets fan" card came with the leather mouse pad they give you when you buy season tickets.

I'm usually the one defending Mets fans to the Red Sox MLBlogger who says they're worse than the Yankee fans at Fenway.

But turns out we do have a few bad nuts in the bunch.

I'm done responding to you, but if you want to keep trying to be bullies, it'll be an interesting view of your character.

Mr. Met willl never say a bad thing about you Zoë. That being said, next time you're at the ballpark come by and say hello; that would be me with the big baseball head. Sngle friends of Zoë are always welcome!

Ah, but Mr. Met, did you see this?

EZ, we're all on the same side here, no Yanks or Sawx fans allowed!

Mr. Met, go make a love connection on your own time. But just in case Zoe "the fraud" gives you the brush off -- Mike Piazza will be more than happy to go on a date with you.

Mr. Met knows that Zoë has her own man, sadly enough. And Mr. Met is not interested in Mike Piazza. Now a doctor, on the other hand......

Did you say doctor Mr. Met?

But will David Wright endorse Jobu?

I just don't want to turn into the Rockies...

what song does jose reyes come up to bat with ??? the one where the singer sounds like hes mumbling

It's called "El Mudo"

I have a son who is turning 16 this Dec. Max, has played baseball since he was 2 yrs. old and could hit a wiffle ball over our two story house. My father-in-law loved to coach him and was his biggest fan until he died 5 years ago. My son, Max is truely my idol.....he is one of the nicest , greatest kids with a heart of gold...he has a level head on his shoulders and encourages others about baseball when he umps LL. He plays baseball morning noon and night....he plays fall ball, Rockville Centre,ny town team, travel teams and recently joined the LI Ducks nassau county travel league as a 1st baseman, pitcher and 3rd baseman and catcher.I am not just saying this because and am his MOM and his bigest fan, but because he has the "PASSION". I really want to thank you for being such a fabulous role modeland mentor with my son. You have truely inspired him to become a better player and better yet, a more caring person. Max takes lessons from Dave Lymancheck from the KC Royals from years ago and never stops talking about you. Tonight, he showed me his birthday list and the first thing on the list was a life size cut out of you that I could order online to go at the foot of his bed! Thank you David Wright...kids these days don't have respectable, talented, all around great role models to set good examples to set the bar to strive to someday become a better person...Max is truely a wonderful kid, but you have inspired him to become a better person, player and human being and as a parent, I thank you a million David Wright for all you represent and the very fine son your parents raised. With much gratitude-Tracy Rosing 16 Locust Ave Rockville Centre,NY....ps- I really want to make sure that this thank you reaches you and so I will "copy and paste " this letter of gratitude any place I can find that I think you might recieve it,,,,thanks again, for being everything you are and the fine man your family raised! You are doing a great job influencing America's youth! keep up the great job.....I'm sure you make your mother proed every minute of the day of who you have become as a person.
