METS RECALL INFIELDER ANDERSON HERNANDEZ /
OPTION LEFTHANDED PITCHER DAVE WILLIAMS
The New York Mets today recalled infielder Anderson Hernandez from Norfolk (AAA) of the International League and optioned lefthanded pitcher Dave Williams to the Tides. Hernandez will wear uniform #1 and will be available for tonight’s game against the Rockies at Colorado.
Hernandez, 23, began the season on the Mets Opening Day roster, and hit .146 (6-41) in 12 contests with New York. Anderson was placed on the 15-Day Disabled List on April 20th, retroactive to April 18th, with a bulging disc in his back.
The 5-9, 170-pound second baseman was recalled from his minor league rehabilitation assignment, reinstated from the 15-Day Disabled List and optioned to Norfolk on May 22nd. In 102 games with the Tides, including 11 rehabilitation games, Hernandez hit .249 (103-414) with 11 doubles, four triples, 15 stolen bases, 23 RBI and 44 runs scored.
Williams, 27, was acquired by the New York Mets on May 25th from the Cincinnati Reds in exchange for minor league righthanded pitcher Robert Manuel. Williams was 2-0 with a 3.79 ERA in three starts with the Mets. In 19.0 innings, he allowed 22 hits, eight runs, earned, with two walks and 11 strikeouts.
Dave went 2-2 with a 3.68 ERA in seven starts for the Tides following the trade. In 36.2 innings, he permitted 36 hits, 33 hits, 20 runs, 15 earned, with 10 walks and 17 strikeouts.

Anderson Hernandez is Jose Oquendo all over again. Cheo couldn't handle the pressure in New York..... and neither can this guy. He takes Mookie's number,WOW during the anniversary of 1986. The "slow ground ball, down along the first base line.....behind the bag, ...it gets through Buckner"
You gotta believe? Or you gotta be kidding?
Send this pachuli Hernandez to Kansas City, where he can be a fixture for a non pressure team. Give Mookie RESPECT already.
If this promotion of Anderson Hernandez.... is not a complete
wake up call for Edguardo Alfonso to retire....then I don't know what is.
Hey it is time to pack it in and join Rey Ordonez bagging groceries.....
I personally would like to see a list of waiver claims made by the New York Mets the last month. That should be available to see for fans. Newsday, that is research for you. We want to know what Omar has been up to? Why were no veteren starters acquired and did the Mets make any attempt at blocking deals?
Looks like Omar did not even try.
willie the dumb should have asked for wells they need him bad
bob the loser should have a nice tall glass of shut the f up
we need pitching bring up the kids let them pitch.willie the dump still believes in tom the finished, and pedro the hurt.
BOB YOUR RIGHT ON THE MONEY.
After watching Carlos Beltran almost suffer a season ending injury, Major League Baseball doesn't make it mandatory that all outfield fences be cushioned because...?
bob is retarded
ROSES ARE ORANGE,
VIOLETS ARE BLUE
MR. MET IS ILLITERATE
'CAUSE HE NEVER FINISHED SCHOOL.
With Carlos Beltran hurt(yet again) please don't worry I am sure that Lastings Milledge will avoid any significant jail time long enough to fill in with his .230 average. Boy just so glad the mets didn't trade him for Barry Zito.
BOB YOU ARE ONE OF THE FEW IN THIS BLOG THAT KNOWS WHAT HE'S TALKING ABOUT.
bob makes sand look smart
OXYMORON: CHASTE SORORITY GIRLS
PLAIN MORONS: BOB AND W B MASON
willie the dumb better figure out how to stop the mets from going 6 and 22 in sept.is he capable?
no met should be mvp and please willie the dumb as manager of the year is a joke
The Mets are all of 2-2 in September (without Beltran in two of the games) and the naysers panic. Mets were 17-8
in August.
As for playoffs, likely first round opponents are San Diego, LA or St. Louis. All winnable
series.
I think we should all ignore Bob and B. Mason (they probably are one and the same person) and maybe they(he) will do us all a favor and go away.
I HAVE NEWS FOR YOU MET FANS
THOUGH IT COMES AS A SHOCK:
MR. MET HAS NO GIRLFRIEND.
HE RESEMBLES MR. SPOCK.
CARLITO IS HURT
AND YOUR ROTATION'S A CROCK.
DAVID WRIGHT ON HIS BEST DAY
CAN'T SNIFF ARODS JOCK.
UNLIKE MR MET I AM NOT A SUCK PUPPET WITH NUMEROUS ASSUMED NAMES.
UNLIKE MR. MET, I DO USE ASSUMED NAMES. ON ANY GIVEN DAY YOU CAN FIND ME POSTING AS WB MASON, BOB, STEVE, OR BOSTON FAN.
You silly met fans cannot escape your destiny, which is complete. Carlos is down, Glavine is down, and Pedro is a clown. Everything is happening as I had predicted. MT, you can come watch the Yankee parade with me. Mr. Met will be at home watching on his couch eating another bag of Cheetos. Sobbing like a fool.
THE EVIL EMPIRE IS BACK!!
HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA
Steve: Coming off a 5-0 loss to KC with Moose on the mound,
your bravado is inspired, if just a little bid sad. A billion dollars spent and no ring this decade.
THE EMPIRE STRIKES OUT AGAIN!
Lets get the facts straight. Jeter a career avg.316 and A Rod career avg.305 with 460 Home Runs,131 over the past three seasons(yes, he can avg.45 over the next 5yrs and still be only 36yrs.old) are superstars,in fact A Rod is the most complete player in baseball.......Reyes career 284 and Wright 303 are very good players who have been in the league for about two full seasons.Beltran, who I think has been in the league for eight years has a career avg of 282 and offered to sign with the Yanks for $19 million less than what the Mets offered is a good player who is a year and a half younger then A Rod.If you want to compare Wright and Reyes to Cano 315 avg in less then 2yrs. or Cabrera 281 or Wang 24-10 in less then two seasons it would make for a good debate but Jeter and A Rod-get real.
The Jeter/ARod versus Reyes/Wright is an apples/orange debate. Jeter is nine years older and ARod eight years older. Five years from now, a GM will most likely prefer 28 year old Reyes/Wright over 37 year old
Jeter/Rodriguez.
ARod is leading the league in errors is the most complete player? Beltran did more in one postseason that ARod did in his whole career for about half the money. The Yankees passing on him explains much as to why they haven't won it all in 6 years despite spending a billion dollars in the process.
In paraphrasing Sparky Anderson, do not embarass Melky Cabrera by comparing him to Reyes and Wright.
A corner outfielder with
no power will probably be trade bait. Cano is a keeper and so is Wang and
will make a good comparison
in years to come.
In paraphrasing Sparky Anderson don't embrass Wright and Reyes by comparing them to Jeter and A Rod. One good year does not make a superstar. In fact,in Wrights case one-half season. Oh yea, didn't you mean Pedro instead of Moose and Glavine instead of RJ. To say RJ is old when his record is 32-18 as a Yankee while Glavine is 45-47 since he's been a Met is a total denial of reality. Moose and RJ 87-47 while Pedro and Glavine 69-60.
YOUR RIGHT ON THE MONEY CASH, YOU BACK UP STATEMENTS WITH FACTS. AND BY THE WAY MELKY LEDS THE LEAGUE IN ASSISTS AND IS A VERY GOOD DEFENSIVE PLAYER WHO THEY PROJECT TO AVERAGE 25-30 HOME RUNS.STEVE ARE YOU THE "POET LAUREATE" OF THIS BLOG?
I really wanna put my two cents in. I just wanna say that I think that arod is really good looking, but from what I have heard..he has trouble
"performing" um under pressure.
Well, the last thing anyone wants is a man who cannot perform under pressure.
No matter how big he thinks he is.
Cash:
I guess .303 with 103 RBI's isn't a good season as Wright hit last year. This year he has more RBI's and is hitting 20 points higher than Arod, fields his position better and went through a slump without the drama. All this is a notorious pitcher's park.
Cash RJ's ERA on the Yankees is in the high 4's. He's basically a lefty
Trachsel. I think California Angels are still coming around to score from last year's playoff game. Mets used RJ for batting practice in June. If healthy, a big if, Pedro shuts the Yankees down as he did in June. Look at it this way, Mets split the Subway Series this year and Soler started two games.
Face it Cash, the Mets are simply better this year; and will be better for the foreseeable future. FA Pitchers will want to come to the Mets if for no other reason that they can clean up against an awful NL.
MT, there is one thing you forget my statistific friend. David Wright could hide in the Met lineup during his slump, why? Because the Mets basically won the division by JUNE in a pathetic and vanilla NL.
(Have you checked the NL wild card race? It's the battle of who can stink less)
Arod is a fairy but at least give him his due. He has been in a dogfight for the AL East division all year. It's the Division, or nothing for Yanks.....that is more stressful.
Give Torre credit.
So nice to know that Anderson Hernandez has learned absolutely nothing about hitting during his minor league remedial tour. I think the pitchers from the Taiwan National's Little League team could fan his bubkis blindfolded.
Someone get him some clues and some vitamins "wink-wink"
MT:AWFUL NL-You come to the realization that the Mets are a big fish in a small pond.RJ had another great start last night.Last 10 starts 4.21ERA, 16-10 for season--Last 10 starts for Trachsel-5.63ERA....Glavine-5.59ERA....Pedro(the yanks are my daddy)5.13ERA in an AWFUL NL. Face it MT,FA pitchers will come to the Mets if they overpay and/or other teams have no interest-Like Pedro,Wagner and Glavine.
Yankees weren't interested in Pedro? Why would they when they can pay for Kevin Brown, Carl Pavano, Jared Wright. Yankees better hope Mussina holds up as Johnson/Wang ain't beating anyone. RJ can beat up on AAA KC all he wants, any clubd decent for 8 runs.
Here's the deal: Before the Abreu Deal, Yanks-Mets were evenly matched. In the last three years, the Mets have won one game more against Yanks. That's a fact. If you compare spot-by-spot, Giambi slightly better than Delgado (not by much), Cano is slightly better than Valentin (only because Valentin's playing out of his mind and his clutch hitting makes this more of a close comparision than it probably should be) Reyes is on par with Jeter, but Jeter gets the nod because he's been there and stepped up (way up) WHEN he's been there; Wright is head & shoulders better than A-Rod this year (mainly because it's all in A-Rod's head; what a choke artist); Chavez and Cabrera are pretty much a wash (mainly because Chavez, like Valentin, is playing over his head); though Cabrera/Matsui is a superior match-up to Chavez/Floyd; Damon's a great post-season player, but Beltran's clearly a superior talent; Abreu beats out Green (though Green's been coming around of late); LoDuca over Posada both at the plate and behind it (and is willing to take a hit from an oncoming baserunner). Look, when it comes to the starting staffs, Mussin's been rather inconsistent in the post-season; Wang, like John Maine, is still untested in the post-season; The mets OWNNNN Randy Johnson. With that said, The Yanks haven't been Pedro's Daddie since he was in a Bosox uni, but who knows what he brings. Glavine hasn't been known to be lights out in the post-season (rather Mussina-like); El Duque'a winner when it counts, but who knows; Trachsel never delivers what you think he will, which probably means he'll be lights out in the playoffs :). The bullpens are a wash, honestly. The Mets have the best overall bullpen in baseball. The Yanks have Mariano, Proctor's Ok and that's pretty much it. In the end, the Mets will need to take early leads against the Yanks, continue their odd, humiliating domination of the Big Unit, and beat the Yanks in the middle innings, because under the harsh lights and pressures of October baseball, i'm not sure they will overcome a 4-2 deficit with Mariano on the mound....at least, not this year......
SFGHOST: I READ HALF OF YOUR POST AND THEN I SAID TO MYSELF? WHAT IS THIS MAN'S POINT? WHY DOES HE JUST GO ON AND ON WITH NO END ?
ANSWER? HE IS SINGLE.
BUT WHY SHOULD WE SUFFER WITH YOU.
YANKS ARE THE BEST THATS IT.
