FUKUOKA -- The talk on the field before tonight's Game 5 at the Yahoo! Dome is that the posting price for Daisuke Matsuzaka will be significantly below the early projections of $20-$30 million. Teams have until 5 p.m. Wednesday EST to submit their blind bids, with the anonymous winner to be turned over to the Seibu Lions, and it sounds like the number will be much closer to the Mariners' bid that won Ichiro Suzuki's negotiating rights -- $11 million -- back in 2000.

I had a dream that the Mets got Matsuzaka, the dream was so real. In the dream I was watching ESPN and they were reporting the story. I sat there and was stunned by the posting figure. Omar and Fred Wilpon were interviewed and they stated that it was a reward to Met fans for their loyalty and patience. Omar actually said "sometimes you have to overpay to play".
The news reports showed the new Shea Stadium construction site and commented that the Mets wanted a world series team that would open the stadium,
it was a cool dream...I awoke and scratched my head and wondered if in fact it was really happening, we shall see. I hope that it does come true.
Zito too would be so sweet.
Red Sox? The Red Sox?
ESPN is reporting the Red Sox won the bid, $38-42 million. The Red Sox????
WHAT A CROCK !!!!!!!!!!!
OMAR !!!! WHAT A CROCK !!!
How off was David Lennon? He said the bid would be "significantly below $20-30 million," and it turns out to be significantly higher, around $38-45 million. Nice job, David.
David Lennon was referring to his own salary negotiations with Newsday......he just won't work for anything less than twenty million. Honest.
think the lions will take it?!
be dumb not to.
Fenway can be a tough place to play for someone who has a big contract.....one thing for sure, the press and the fans will never let him forget the 50 million. Never.
What? A FENWAY HOTDOG COSTS TWELVE DOLLARS !!!!!
Boooooo Boooooooo !!!!!
Wow. This blog story was about as wrong as it could be.
