Mets close on three-team trade for J.J. Putz
The Mets are on the brink of completing a three-team trade with the Mariners and Indians that will land them J.J. Putz, a person familiar with the situation said. In proposed swap, the Mets send reliever Joe Smith to Cleveland for outfielder Franklin Guitierrez, who is then sent to Seattle along with Aaron Heilman, Endy Chavez and first-base prospect Mike Carp for Putz.
The three teams are currently going over the medical records and a deal could be announced shortly.
Details of the initial discussion were first reported by Foxsports.com

I'd like to thank Endy Chavez for "The Catch."
I'd like to thank Mike Carp for hitting 20+ homers in the minors.
I'd like to thank Aaron Heilman for his tenure here, as rocky as it was.
I'd like to thank Joe Smith for giving the finger to the bleacher creatures in Wrigley.
But most of all, I'd like to thank Omar Minaya for fixing this disaster of a pen and giving us one of the best 1-2 punches in all of baseball.
