Gameday Live 88: Mets at Braves

After a rash of injuries and comedy of errors during the first half of the season, a once formidable Mets lineup resembled a team that should be playing at Citibank Park rather than Citifield. At 42-45 and 6 1/2 games back of the division and wild card leads, the Mets are looking up in the standings at the midway point, rather than down, which may not be a bad thing considering the way the past two seasons have ended.

Met fans should take solace in the fact that they were able to stay competitive despite the loss of key components. Should those missing pieces come back healthy, perhaps the Mets will be the beneficiary of a second half collapse rather than the victim.

The Mets kick off the second half of the season in Atlanta as they send Oliver Perez (2-2, 8.77 ERA) to the mound against Derek Lowe (8-7, 4.39 ERA). First pitch is just minutes away....

Fire Omar-Fire Bernazard- blow up the core- can the caoching staff- build the Farm

Step one: fire all above and bring in a new GM and let him pick his staff

Step two: Trade Feliciano, Sheff for young prospects that can help start the farm..Felic can get a decent young kid on a team in the race needing a lefty in pen!

Step 3: Trade Reyes to Boston for Elsvury and one of their young arms......Or Reyes to Twins for Mauer....If not Reyes, than Wright

Step 4: in off season offer Jason Bay what ever he wants

Step 5: bring in dirt dog type players with grit and hustle....GAMERS... They do not have to be all stars .... Just smart hard working bench guys like Cora

OK, all of you that did not want to pay Derek Lowe the money, after watching last nights match up which pitcher would you rather take a chance on having at the bottom of your rotation in 2011, he or Olly?
