Good afternoon Mets fans. Today the Mets turn to their ace, All-Star Johan Santana to try and halt a two game losing streak at the hands of the hated Atlanta Braves. Opposing him will be the Japanese righthander Kenshin Kawakami (5-6, 4.26 ERA). Kawakami's been pitching very well of late, he's won his last two decisions and lowered his ERA, which was at 5.74 on May 16, in 10 of his last 12 starts. The Mets are sending out the perfect lineup for him to lower that further, Gary Sheffield is not in the lineup, which boasts a combined 19 home runs this season (and five of those came while Jeff Franceour was a Brave). Luckily Santana (10-7, 3.09 ERA), who shutout the Reds in seven innings last start, doesn't typically need too many runs to win.
