Sunday Conversations
Yesterday's 2nd inning scuffle was still the topic of conversation at U.S. Cellular Field before today's game with all parties in agreement that it was time to move on. Dan Roan had the scoop during today's White Sox Warmup.
AJ Pierzynski Talks With Dan Roan Before Sunday's Game

I dont agree with Hawks comments about the sox cathers play at the plate being baseball 101. If the cather has the ball then it is totally cool to make contact, but without the ball I believe the runner should make every attempt to slide around him. I was taught the hook slide in baseball 101.

Hawk DJ AJ plays ball like back in Hawks day,the way it should be played. These guys make so much money now and are scare to get hurt. I like Barret but he was wrong.

Listening to Hawk and DJ talk about the play at home with the comments of Rich Hill. Hawk and DJ talk about it being baseball 101 and that Hill knew nothing about baseball. However, in high school and little league, running over the catcher is illegal, and is an outmatic ejection. So, maybe Hill didn't know the rules of baseball 101 because it has never happened to him before. Now, every little league player who has been watching will think it is OK to do, when in fact it is not.

The Hawk and BJ have to be two of the worst announcers on the air...anyone agree?

I am neither a Cubs nor Sox fan, just a fan of Baseball. I decided to sit in on your broadcast during today's windy city match up. You two have made me a Cubs fan. I have never heard broadcaster so bias and uninformed for the team they represent. Coming up with excuses for team errors and kissing the rectums of WS players is not only sickening, but shows how spineless you are as broadcasters. I can only watch the rest of the game with the sound off. BTW, Wood is back. I even know that. You two should do some research.

Harrelson & Jackson were 100% wrong in their criticism of Uribe's throw. If Konerko would have shifted his foot to the outside of the bag he could have caught that throw easily.
Place the blame where it belongs,, with Konerko. A good first baseman would have easily caught that ball.

Men and their baseball 101. I didn't even play baseball, just softball and I even I know that AJ had the right of way. The only time the catcher has the right to block home plate is when he has or is going to be receiving the ball. Michael Barrett wasn't going to receive the ball (since it hit AJ in the back) so he needed to move his sorry body off the plate. The reason high school and little league players don't run over the catcher in that situation is that the catchers have the good sense to get out of the way when they don't have the ball.

How can AJ's play be so wrong if Dusty and Barret both said that he did the right thing and Barret said he was in the wrong? From all the baseball that I know (I may be a girl but I grew up around all ball players), I know that if the guy is standing in front of home and acting like he has the ball then the only thing you can do is plow him down. That is Baseball 101. Hawk and DJ are great announcers and they have a deep love for their team just like we all do. It doesnt make us bullies- that makes us real fans.
