Hawk & DJ's baseball blog: Joe Crede

Joe Crede

There's a guy who continues to work hard and improve each day right in front of us and that's Joe Crede.  He continues to find ways to hit tough pitches and is a much tougher hitter each season.

I remember Joe's first invite to big-league camp in my last year in 1999.  He had a great swing that naturally drove the ball to right-center field.  That went away for a bit and he has continued to work at getting it back.

His defense is superb and gets lots of attention, but the little things he does at the plate, plus his clutch hitting keep improving with each season.

Hawk and DJ,

Will you guys please talk to the person responsible for the graphic across the top of our screen. The information is often incorrect, usually at the most crucial times. Sometimes the wrong bases are lit up, or none are lit up when there are runners on base. Frequently the count is wrong, or the number of outs, and even when the information is correct it tends to lag behind the action. It's confusing.

Thanks for listening. You guys are my picks to click every day.

DJ,

Joe is a tremendous player. He has developed so much since he became a White Sock. This year, his defense has been outstanding. I really like to see players develop over the years and mature into better ballplayers. This is certainly the case for Joe. His hitting has turned 180 degrees. He's hitting close or at .300 this season, while last year he was hitting around .250. Now that's a tremendous improvement. I think it has to do with him seeing the ball better and waiting for pitches to hit. Also, he's one of the toughest hitters to strikeout with 2 strikes. Overall, he is a complete ballplayer and I'm glad the Sox have him. Go Sox!
