Working On It
The Sox are 12 games over .500 so far this year and it's a tribute to the talent on the team. The only thing we're doing better after two months this year is the hitting, plus Bobby Jenks has been real good at the end of games.
Otherwise, the rest of the bullpen have had their problems, our starters have had their ups and downs, we've had some defensive lapses, and certainly there have been mental mistakes.
It's a good sign of the high standards this team sets that everyone feels we can be playing much better.

Hi,
I have been a White Sox fan for many years now. I currently live in Minnesota, but follow the good guys on TV. This year we seem to not be doing so well. I am wondering if you think the lost of Rowland might have something to do with it. I know Thome is a great addition, but Rowland seemed to have a spark with the guys.
Thanks

Hawk,
You're 110% correct. The hitting is basically keeping the team afloat. I was watching the game last night on WGN against Texas and Vasquez did an OK job, going 6 and 1/3 innings. One of the reasons that he was struggling was that he wasn't getting the calls when he was ahead in the count, 1-2 and even 0-2. Then, he would let the hitter back in the at-bat by falling behind 3-2. I remember you saying that a couple of the close pitches that didn't go our way were clearly strikes. After I saw those replays, those pitches were definitely over the plate. On the other hand, the offense was clicking and if it wasn't for the 7 run fourth, I don't think we would have won the ballgame. But evidently, the bullpen did struggle last night and almost let the Rangers back in the game. You know things aren't going right when you have to use 3 pitchers to complete one inning. But hey, Bobby did a great job to nail down the game and get his 15th save. He's got some wicked stuff with that mid to upper 90s fast ball and the very slow curve. Let's win the rubber match of this series today. Go Sox!
