On To KC

It's hard to sweep any team, especially on the road, but it was a shame that yesterday's game got away in the 9th.  It wasn't like Bobby Jenks got knocked around. He nicked Miguel Tejada with a pitch, Jay Gibbons hit a little duck snort to center, and Jeff Conine hit a soft liner to right to tie the game before Javy Lopez hit the game-winner through the drawn-in infield. That's gone and now the Sox have to get back at it.

You have to love the way AJ Pierzynski is swinging the bat - 3 for 4 yesterday, 5 for 5 Saturday, and 10 for 13 for the weekend series.  Let's hope he can stay hot.  Jose Contreras has never lost to the Royals - he is 6-0 lifetime with a 1.93 ERA.

Hawk,

I disagree, sure it's hard to sweep a team, but the Sox should've beaten the O's yesterday. It was another one of those games where the starting pitching was shaky and the Sox let the game slip away. They really needed a sweep in Baltimore yesterday. But yes, AJ has really stepped it up this past series. I hope he continues his success at the plate and I think the Sox need him to be producing if they want to get back into first place in the division. Well, first let's see what happens in Kansas City. Hopefully we'll get the sweep this time. Go Sox!

Has Javey always been a pitcher who loses his cool in the middle innings? BTW, he tips his pitches. Everytime he throws to the ourside, he drops down, leans back and throws a fast ball or slider 3 inches outside. You can see it from the centerfield camera, obviously the hitter is not able to see it at the plate or they would be killing him even more than usual.

Hawk, a couple of weeks ago I noticed that when Politte was pitching, he threw 17 straight fastballs or sliders low and on the outside corner. He walked two and gave up two hard hits. I don't always agree with the pitching game plan, we have to set up hitters better by going in and out if we want some weakly hit balls and more strike outs.

Do you keep in contact with Dewey Robinson? Is he still with the Astros organization? Do you know if any of his brothers ever got to the big leagues?

Dear Hawk & DJ,

I would like to take this opportunity,to thank you and DJ for the phenominal job you guy's do as the Chicago White Sox commentators.

Please understand my next comments are based on a business opinion. As we all know baseball is a business, and profit and loss is all that matters to any MLB team.

Over the last couple of weeks, all we've heard Kenny Williams say is my teams distracted.Let's go back eight weeks ago, when Kenny Williams threatened Ozzie's job on an ESPN interview.

Please understand I've been in Executive Management for many years, and as much as I would like to take credit for the great things that happen at my company,my employees deserve all the credit.

During Kenny's interview I stood their stunned,as a business man you never threaten the individual who made you're team World Champions,or in the long run you and you're organization will lose.

To finalize, I believe Kenny Williams caused this distraction all by himself. As great as a General Manager Kenny Williams is,Ozzie, the Coaches, and the team, won the World Series no one else.

To put this into prospective a house divided will fall, a house unified will stand strong. What are you're guys thoughts on my opinion?

Thanks,
Tony

Dear Hawk,
I HAVE FLORIDA WATER!
I have enjoyed your broadcasts for years, and on a number of occasions I've heard you mention Florida Water as the way ball players used to get relief in the dugout on very hot days. I moved from Chicago to Texas 5 years ago and still try to catch your broadcasts whenever I can on the Superstation. While working in a store in Galveston, I noticed a bottle of the Florida Water. I bought it and plan to bring it to the game on Tuesday, Aug. 8th. I'd like to give it to you and find out if it's the famed potion of the past.

With all due admiration,
Ray Zienty

Two items: All /star voting has begun - Let's go SOX fans and get those votes in now! And:We just heard there is a limit in MLB rules that actually says (as impossible as it is) that a batter is called out after he has received 99 pitches! Is it really in the book?
