Closer To Home

It's no surprise that I say that this is a critical 11-game homestand for the Sox and it didn't start off the way they wanted last night.

It's one that is a bit unusual, because even if we play well, we still might be in trouble.  But if we play poorly, it's gonna be deep trouble.  The division doesn't leave any room for error this year because of the Detroit Tigers.  They have played magnificently this season - when you are 20 over and 10 games back in early August, you have a problem that's not all of your making.

I'm watching the Yankee White Sox game. What are you guys 10 years old?
The umpire made a bad call. What game you watching? He's clearly out at 3rd.Any excuses for the home run?You guys are the biggest joke for an anouncer I've ever seen.Any time something happens,it's never the White Sox fault.Umpire, bads break.
GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Long-time Chisox fan who can no longer tolerate boorish announcing talent of Hawk and DJ. Knock off the 'he-gone' crap; enough of the 'good guys' and 'bad guys' BS; and what were you thinking (Hawk) when you said tonight that umpire Eric Cooper has had 'in' for the Sox behind the plate last night, and at 3rd base tonight. The two of you are the worst 'homers' of any major league ball team. Get real.

Hawk:

I find your comments regarding what a GREAT captain Paul Konerko is for this team very intersting.

This past weekend I was in Toronto. I wasn't there to see the game but since the Sox were in town we decided to catch a late afternoon game. After the game we were in the Renaissance Hotel, where the Sox were staying and witnessed the following. About 24 Sox fans were in the lobby waiting for the Sox to come down. These were obviously hard core fans that had followed the team on a road trip. When Paul Konerko came down on the elevator the fans all applauded and asked for an autograph. Konerko pushed past all of these fans with no acknowledgement. He actually pushed a couple out of his way. I have pictures to prove this. All he said was that he was going to dinner and didn't have time. How could he not have time for a handful of die hard fans?

As far as I'm concerned he can take his millions and stick them. He is no leader. He is a disgrace. I understand that fans can be a hassle and once a player stops to sign autographs he may be tied up for a while. BUT , this was an away game and these were HIS fans. I personally could care less about his autograph or him butI couldn't believe what I saw.

So is he a great leader....I don't think so. In his defense the rest of the Sox behaved in the same way. Sandy Alomar was the worst. Funny thing is that the only player to stop and sign was Todd Gaus of the Blue Jays.

Maybe this is what happens when a team becomes world champs, they become better than the fans

Thanks for letting me vent.
