Game Notes For Wednesday

*Last season, the Sox led MLB with a 35-19 record in 1-run games. This season they are 14th at 20-19.

*The Sox are now only 16-17 against the American League East this year.

*Kevin Youkilis may not look like a leadoff hitter, but he's done the job by getting on base at a .392 clip, the second highest OBP by a leadoff hitter in baseball.

*The Red Sox have been in a scoring drought, leading baseball by scoring less than 4 runs on 14 different occasions since August 14.

*Jim Thome has 12 homers in his last 25 games against Boston, including 1 on Monday night.

*Maybe Boston can be the tonic for Scott Podsednik - he owns a .370 career batting average vs. the Red Sox.

Hawk, I hope this gets to you. 1st time using this medium!? Watching the game tonight reminded me of Tony Coniglairo. I used to live with Jim, Fred & Cecil in Quincy, Ma. back in the 70's. Used to have Fred's football from UCLA. Can you enlighten me about Tony. I heard something & not sure if it's true.
