Game Notes For Wednesday

*With the White Sox eliminated from postseason contention and the Astros 1 1/2 games out of first in the NL Central, this could mark the first time in 10 years that both pennant winners have failed to make the playoffs.

*The Sox 3-4-5 combo of Thome/Dye/Konerko is far and away tops in the majors for those slots.  They rank 1st in OBP (.398), HRs (127), RBIs (388), runs (349), and second in batting average (.317) - a point behind the middle of the Rockies order.

*The White Sox staff has posted the large ERA increase in the American League this year, up 1.04 to 4.65 from last year's 3.61.

*Cleveland has won 6 of the 8 meetings at Jacobs Field in 2006, a far cry from last year when the Sox went 9-1 at the Jake.

*The Indians have scored 20 runs total in the first 2 games of this series and lead the majors with 17 11+ run games.
