Game Notes For Monday @ KC

* The White Sox have won eight of 11 meetings with the Royals this season and the teams have seven games left against each other. Despite the success against Kansas City, Chicago has been outscored 49-46 in those contests. * With a walkoff homer in the ninth inning yesterday, Jim Thome became the third player to reach the 500 career home run plateau this season, the others being Frank Thomas and Alex Rodriguez. * Six of Paul Konerko’s ten hits against the Royals this season have gone for extra bases (five homers and a double). * The White Sox have hit 172 homers this season. They need 28 in 13 games to reach 200 for the eighth consecutive season. * The Royals are tied with the Twins for the worst mark in the AL this month (4-10). * Emil Brown is batting .400 (24-60) in his last 17 games, including hitting safely in 15 of his last 16 starts. * The Royals are hitting just .236 (33-140) with runners in scoring position this month, lowest in the majors

Game Notes For Friday vs. Halos

* The Angels have won four of the past five games against the White Sox in Chicago. * The Angels are 6-4 in their past 10 games, and it has been their offense determining their fate. Los Angeles has scored 54 runs in its last six wins (9.0 per game), but just five runs in its last four losses (1.3 per game). * Chicago is just 23-37 since the break, the worst record in the AL and trailing only Florida (21-36) in the majors. * Los Angeles is more than happy to get Chone Figgins back. Since returning earlier this month from a sprained left wrist, Figgins is torching the ball, hitting .563 with four doubles and adding four stolen bases as well. * Bartolo Colon has not followed up his 21-win 2005 season very well. In the last two seasons, he is just 7-11 with an ERA of 6.08. * Jose Contreras began his career with four consecutive winning seasons, compiling a 48-27 record, but this year his losses have doubled his wins at 8-16.
