Game Notes For Opening Day

* The Indians have won 10 of the last 15 at home against the White Sox. * The White Sox fourth place finish in the Central Division in 2007 was the first time Chicago did not finish in the top three in its division since 1989 when they finished 7th in the AL West under skipper Jeff Torborg. 1989 was also the last time Chicago had lost 90 games before doing so again in 2007. * Chicago had the 4th-best relief ERA (3.23) in baseball in 2005 when it won the World Championship, but in 2006 it slipped to 23rd with a 4.53 ERA, and further still in 2007 to 28th with a 5.47 relief ERA. * Jim Thome led the team with 35 home runs in 2007, and has now hit 30+ home runs in 11 of the last 12 seasons. * The Indians had a successful 2007 dispatching the Yankees in the division series in four games, before holding a 3-1 advantage after four games versus the eventual World Champion Red Sox. Cleveland eventually lost the ALCS in seven games to Boston. * C.C. Sabathia and Fausto Carmona each won 19 games in 2007. They were the first Cleveland duo to reach 19 wins since 1956 when Herb Score, Early Wynn, and Bob Lemon all won 20 games for the Tribe. * Victor Martinez has driven in 395 runs over the last four seasons, the most among players whose primary position is Catcher.
