Game Notes For Tuesday vs. Bronx Bombers

* The Yankees won six of 10 games from the White Sox in last year’s season series. New York averaged 9.2 runs while winning five of the last six meetings. * The Yankees’ 7-1 victory over Baltimore on Sunday snapped a three-game losing streak. * The White Sox, who have played the second-fewest home games in the American League (seven), begin a seven-game homestand on Tuesday. * Through his first 45 pitches of games, Chien-Ming Wang has permitted a puny .122 average to opposing hitters. But from then on, they’ve generated a .306 mark. * After going 2-0 with a 0.60 ERA in his first two career starts against the Yankees, Jose Contreras is 0-4 with a 6.08 ERA in his last four outings versus New York. * Bobby Abreu’s .408 career average against the White Sox is the highest mark by any player versus Chicago since 1956 (minimum 60 PA). His on-base percentage (.523) and slugging percentage (.775) against the Sox also rank first over that span. * Over his last five games, Jim Thome has batted .389 with three homers and nine RBI.
