Game Notes For Thursday @ Rays

* Chicago won two out of three from Tampa Bay at Tropicana Field earlier this season. Over the past two seasons, the White Sox are 8-2 in Florida against the Rays. * The White Sox have won three of four and 11 of their last 14 contests overall. On the road, the White Sox have won seven of their last eight games. * Since starting the season 4-7 at home, the Rays have won 17 of their last 19 played at Tropicana Field. This run at home started after their series with the White Sox. * Tampa Bay base runners have stolen 54 bases on the season, most in the American League and second-most in the majors in 2008. * Over his past four games, Orlando Cabrera is batting .444 (8-for-18), has an on-base percentage of .500 (10/20) and is slugging .611 (11/18). * Evan Longoria is riding a five-game hitting streak and is batting .389 (7-for-18), slugging .833 and has driven in eight runs over this stretch.

* The White Sox have won each of the last four meetings between these teams, holding the Indians to a total of five runs in that span. * Chicago has won nine of its last 11 games and will be looking to extend its current road winning streak to six games. * The Indians have lost eight of their last nine games, scoring two runs or less five times in that span. * The White Sox have won each of Javier Vazquez’ last three starts. Vazquez is 0-2 with a 5.73 ERA in his last two starts at Cleveland. * Carlos Quentin has hit an AL-leading 14 home runs this season. Quentin is hitting .667 with the bases loaded this season and .467 with runners in scoring position with two outs. * Travis Hafner has 57 RBI in his career against the White Sox which is tied for the most in his career against any opponent (also has 57 against the Twins). * Cleveland’s starting pitching staff boasts the best ERA in the majors this season (3.16), while the White Sox starters have the third-best ERA (3.49).

Game Notes For Tuesday vs. Tribe

* Cleveland has won two of the three meetings between these teams this season. * The Indians will be looking to snap their three-game losing streak and to avoid losing four in a row for the first time this season. * The White Sox will be seeking their sixth straight victory which would be their longest winning streak since winning nine in a row from June 15-24, 2006. * After posting a 0-3 record with a 13.50 ERA in his first four starts of the season, C.C. Sabathia is now 3-2 with a 1.49 ERA in his last five starts. Sabathia is 14-3 with a 3.66 ERA in 24 career starts against the White Sox, including 6-0 in his last nine starts against them. * Jose Contreras is 2-0 with a 1.29 ERA in his last two starts. * The Indians have the worst batting average in the American League this season (.236) while the White Sox have the second-worst (.247). * A.J. Pierzynski will be looking to extend his hitting streak to 11 games.

* This is just the second time these teams have met in interleague play. San Francisco took two of the three games from Chicago in 2003. * The White Sox were just 4-14 in interleague play last season, and have a current five-game losing streak against N.L. clubs. * The Giants have scored just 14 first-inning runs this season, 2nd fewest among N.L. teams (Pirates – 8). * A.J. Pierzynski is tied for 2nd in the A.L. with 14 doubles on the season. Five of his last eight hits have been doubles. * Saturday’s projected starter, Barry Zito, has the lowest run support average of any starter in the majors this season (2.27). * Righthanded batters are hitting just .169 against Gavin Floyd this season, 5th lowest versus A.L. pitchers. * Aaron Rowand has faced his former club once before, in 2007. He went 1-for-8 with five runs batted in during the three-game series, the one hit being a grand slam off of Matt Thornton.

* Chicago has won nine of its last 12 games in Anaheim. * The Angels will be looking to snap their season-high four-game losing streak. * The White Sox have won three of their last four games and have recorded at least 10 hits in each of their last three contests. * Mark Buehrle is 0-4 with a 4.54 ERA over his last five starts. Buehrle is 0-4 in his last 11 starts against the Angels and will be seeking his first win against them since August 8, 2001. * Orlando Cabrera went 4-for-5 on Sunday, matching his career-high for hits in a game. Cabrera, who spent the last three seasons with the Angels, will be facing his former team for the first time. * Nick Adenhart will be making his third career major league start since being called up on May 1. * The Angels’ bullpen has the second-highest ERA in the majors this season (4.88).
