The City Series resumed on the South Side for round 2 of this year's interleague games. Here are a few shots of of the Cubs and Sox at U.S. Cellular Field..
That trip home from Los Angeles seems to get longer every year. One thing I was thinking about with the travel is how bad the Seattle Mariners have it. Their shortest trip is probably about 2 1/2 hours and virtually every off day is interrupted by a long trip. That really wears on a team and they are at a geographic disadvantage.
The Sox hit the ball well last weekend at Wrigley but needed the timely hit. The home series should bring out their bats in a big way.

It was a great start to a six-game series over two weekends. Here are a few shots of of the Cubs and Sox at Wrigley..
The Cubs start Ted Lilly today and he is no stranger to the White Sox having spent most of his career in the American League. He is 5-2 against the Sox in his career but also has a robust 6.22 ERA against our guys. Lilly has walked 10 in his last 3 starts, so a key today is to watch the free passes. If Lilly keeps walking hitters, the Sox should have at him pretty good with the way they have been swinging the bats.

Yesterday's win over Pittsburgh was impressive because of the way it happened. After falling way behind early, it would have been easy to say "well it's not our day - we've won the series" and let that game go. Instead, the Sox were relentless and ended up with a sweep.
Let's hope the Sox are catching the Cubs at the right time today - a bit banged up, on a three-game losing streak, and bleary-eyed after getting in late last night. It's the perfect time to jump on them and take the opener.
This a great rivalry, maybe the best in baseball because both teams have been butting heads on and off the field for over a century.
