Game Notes For Monday Makeup Vs. Detroit

* If the White Sox win today’s make-up game, the Twins and White Sox will have a one-game playoff at U.S. Cellular Field on Tuesday for the AL Central title. * Chicago is 11-6 against the Tigers this season, winning six of the last eight meetings overall. * The Tigers have won three of their last four games after winning just once in their previous 13 contests. * The White Sox snapped their five-game losing streak with their 5-1 win over the Indians on Sunday. * Chicago has won 13 of Gavin Floyd’s 16 home starts this season. Floyd is 2-0 with a 4.24 ERA in four starts against the Tigers this season. * Freddy Garcia will be making his third start of the season. Garcia beat Texas on September 17 after allowing two hits in five innings of a 17-4 win, but then lost to Kansas City last Tuesday, giving up five runs and three home runs in five innings of a 5-0 loss. * Gary Sheffield is one homer shy of 500 for his career and is 2-for-9 with no home runs in his career against Gavin Floyd. Sheffield is hitting .162 (6-for-37) with one homer in 10 games against the White Sox this season. * Paul Konerko has four homers and six RBI in his last three games.
