Game Notes For Opening Day

* Chicago was 12-6 against Kansas City last season, including going 7-2 in home games. Kansas City hasn’t won the season series since 2000. * The Royals posted a 75-87 record in 2008, its third straight season bettering their record. They only have one winning season (83-79 in 2003) since 1995. * The White Sox won the American League Central title last year, going 89-74. They had to beat Minnesota in a one-game playoff for the division crown. * Kansas City has won two straight, but is only 15-25 in season openers. Chicago has lost two straight, but is 56-52 in season openers. * Mike Aviles had 23 hits, eight of which were doubles, in 64 at bats (.359 BA) against Chicago last season. Aviles also had 11 of his 51 RBIs against the White Sox. * Jim Thome has hit 42 home runs against Kansas City, the highest total amongst all players all-time against the Royals.
