Quick alert for all the Kevin Thompson fans out there (I know at least two of you personally): Kevin is starting in rightfield on Saturday against the A’s. It might be his next-to-last day in pinstripes as Bubba Crosby could rejoin the team after Sunday’s game. So enjoy KT while you can.
UPDATE: KT had quite a day. He hit his first major-league home run, a solo shot to left, in the fifth off Kirk Saarloos. The Yankees were able to retrieve the ball for him and Thompson couldn’t hide his smile even though the Yankees lost, 5-2.
“It was like a surreal experience,” Thompson said. “It felt great.”

What moves should the Yankees make when Chacon and Crosby come back. I know who I would move. Erickson is desinated for assignment. We can get a young kid to do perform at the same level. Thompson should be sent down at this time but will probably be back. The season is long. I love Bernie but he's inconsistent. His fielding in RF is shaky. Crosby and Melky would give us defense and better then average arms in the corners with pretty good speed from the two. They will hit for average if given the opportunity. Phillips needs to play first when Jeter gets back at short. This will give us a good defensive infield. Stick Giambi at DH. If A-rod would get out of his funk this team will have a decent go at it. Pitching, this may sound crazy but Meyers appears to be too much of a luxury. He doesn't give you innings. Matt Smith could and he throws around 90 mph. Joe Torre needs to settle on a set team in the field and at the plate. I'm not thrilled with the pitching but I believe we could get by and make a go at the brass ring.
Our offense is doing just fine. Our pitching isn't bad: second lowest ERA in the AL.
It's defense where we fall short. Twice the errors of AL-leading Boston. That being the case, Bubba for Bernie may be the only move we need to make. Given enough ABs, Bubba will hit well enough. We need defense more than another big bat.
It's been a bad week with all the illnesses and injuries. But we'll get over it. No need to panic yet.
What Randy and Larry said. However, we all know that's not going to happen. Smith will be sent down to make room for Chacon, and KT will go once Crosby comes back. Great reward for a 0.00 ERA and .375/.545/.875.
