... that people seriously believe Alex Rodriguez could be available in a trade.

Steve Phillips is an idiotic talking head.
You win, Steve Phillips! That'll show him for not signing with the Mets!
3+ years ago I thought the Red Sox had A-Rod in their back pocket. Anything can happen, especially when the Yankees are involved. Till the July 31 deadline passes, the possibility A-Rod might end up in another uniform this year is very possible.
A-Rod is available for a trade the same way that Jeter, Rivera, Mussina or Randy are available. That is, in theory anything is possible, but it ain't going to happen unless the Yankees have Pujols, Mauer, Santana, and Liriano all coming over in exchange. Stop listening to Steve Phillips, he's an idiot.
...Remember, Phillips is the one who traded for Mo Vaughn when he was with the Mets. There's a reason he only gets to play a GM on TV.
last year, phillips wanted the mets to trade jose reyes
Bingo!
Phillips needs medication. If A-rod was traded even while he is underperforming acccording to the boo birds in the Bronx (.380 RISP). He's still better then anyone else. If, Phillips was any good as a GM. Espn would not be signing his checks. God help him!. A-rod needs some support from the small portion of boo birds in the stadium. The media is driving this scenario beyond the beyond.
If Steve Phillips were in my fantasy baseball league, he'd be dead money.
Yeah, Steve Phillips was a horrible GM for the Mets. No one, however, was worst than Dan Duquette.
Look at what a great job Minaya has been doing for the Mets now.
It goes to show how ultra-critical the GM position can be.
Next time you want to start fresh, begin at the top, the GM.
I just read Mike Celzig's column on MSNBC.com saying that A-Rod has to be traded. He said that he'll never recover from all of the booing and that he has "Ed Whitson Syndrome". he thinks that the Cubs may take him for Ramirez and Maddux. I'd like to know where Celzig buys his drugs. They must be pretty good!!
Look folks, the booing is counter-productive and it's got to stop! With all of the injuries, the inconsistent pitching and A-Rod's really bad slump; we're 2 1/2 out!!! Can you imagine where we'll be if this guy gets super hot? We can help! Get off of his back and let's put him on ours. The goal is #27; not to run this guy out of town.
Hey, anything is possible...remember the A-Rod curse...he's never won anything no matter who he 's played for, including Team USA !
maybe theres a bubba crosby curse cause hes never won wherever hes played either??????
or even.....a don mattingly curse???
maybe a....mike mussina curse???
we better get rid off all these players who havent won anything yet. they are cursed!!!!!!
