First, gotta give you guys props. I'm very impressed that mostly everyone who posted comments did not follow the Yankees' lead and blame last night's loss on the umpires. Yes, the umps were bad last night, but that happens. Good teams overcome that.
Secondly, everyone here seems to be up in arms that Bubba Crosby isn't getting more playing time in rightfield. Let's take a step back for a second. The Yankees definitely need to upgrade rightfield, but Bubba Crosby is not the answer. He plays above average defense, has a strong arm and has speed, making him a fine fifth outfielder / pinch runner. But put him in the lineup five days a week and he'll get exposed.
That said, if you're asking for him to get a start or two a week, maybe three depending on how Bernie is doing, then that makes sense. I think with Bernie slumping of late, that's what we'll see. Until the trade for [insert name here].

Jim, how do you know? Bubby never played 5 days in a row that I can recall. Besides the age difference then what is the difference with Melky and Bubba? And Melky's not exposed? He makes good contact with the bat and will be a good contact hitter with limited power. Teams are starting to run on him from second to home. The longer throw to the plate has been air mailed twice to the plate in the last two days. He does not hit the cutofff man. Granted neither Bubba or Melky is the answer to the illness alone but both should be in the lineup for their upside over Bernie. I believe the team will have better opportunities with the back end of the lineup playing small ball and the front end banging it out to produce runs. I like Bernie but he was signed for other duties because of his present abilities. Unless the Yankees are show casing Melky?
Jose Guillen and Soriano in a package deal. We give up Cano, Duncan, and Proctor. We sign Soriano long term before the deal is complete, and under no circumstances include Hughes. Hughes is dangled out there till we are possibly overwhelmed at the last minute with the offer of Zito straight up for Hughes. Again, we need a long term deal to complete the transaction.
Even if Bubba doesn't hit a lick, he'll be better than Bernie. They're intentionally hitting toward Bernie, then running on him without even looking up.
And Bubba will hit, given a chance. He's had only 200 ABs in four years - hardly a fair shot to show us what he can do. Whenever he's had a chance to play regularly (last September, during spring training), he's hit pretty well.
Is Shefield going to risk injury on his Free Agent year or does he stay out and wait for someone to give him 10 mil? Nevertheless, Yanks should try to get Floyd from the Mets. Floyd for Vallone. It would help both clubs - Mets could bring back Milledge, put Heilman in starting slot and Yanks would get a power lefty hitting left fielder.
The Bernie from Bethpage
Trade Villone? You must be kidding!
Villone has of late been the Yank's most effective reliever next to Mo.
bubba is 1million times better in the OF then bernie is. if its between bernie and bubba i want bubba. ill take bubba over bernie out there and in the lineup anyday. i will never forget that flyball papi hit in 2004 that bernie coulnt catch up to. and matsui even ran all the way from left and almost caught it if bernie didnt get in his way. god bernie is terrible out there. PLUS he doesnt dive which makes him even worse.
