Kudos to the Los Angeles Times -- which, like Newsday, is a Tribune-owned newspaper -- for finding out the names of players Jason Grimsley reportedly mentioned to federal authorities as users of performance-enhancing drugs.
Here are the names Grimsley reportedly mentioned:
Roger Clemens
Andy Pettitte
Miguel Tejada
Brian Roberts
Jay Gibbons
David Segui also told ESPN a while ago he was on the list.

Let's all agree that the steroid era was a disgrace to our beloved game and move on. Are we surprised when a heretofore pop gun hitter like Brian Roberts is outed? The worst part about this stuff is nobody really knows if what has been made public is actually true. Grimsley or any other breaker of the obvious code of silence could very well have another agenda. Bonds, Sosa, Palmeiro, McGwire, and company took their gamble and lost (though as long as they live healthy lives going forward it's hard to see where making untold millions is a losing propositon), but is there any doubt countless pitchers did the very same thing? It's not like they had a gambling problem like the hit king. They only destroyed sacred records forever...they'll still eventually get into the Hall of Fame I would imagine. No offense to the gay community, but this stuff smacks of being outed. Big deal I say. Those days are over (or so we hope anyway) and besides, you have to figure everyone was doing it. Should everyone who ever inhaled something illegal be front page news? I understand that statistics are muddied for life, but let's move on. In a sick kind of way I'm enjoying that Bonds' trainer is in jail for refusing to help prosecute Bonds. We all know he's guilty, but this is getting ridiculous. I wish they put this kind of effort into finding Nicole Brown Simpson's real killer. Brother.
Say it ain't so Andy...say it ain't so!
Remember when Pettitte used to have a 90-92 mph fastball, and then Clemens joined the Yankees, and Pettitte's fastball jumped up to the 95 mph range after a year or so, and everyone attributed it to Pettitte adopting Clemens' workout regimen and working out with him and McNamee his personal trainer? I guess we know the real reason now....
At least Game 5 of the 1996 WS against the Braves was a clean game for Andy.
Tigers/Yankees in the first round.
Please say Kenny Rodgers pitches Game 1 or 2!
Please say Kenny Rodgers pitches Game 1 or 2!
Please say Kenny Rodgers pitches Game 1 or 2!
Becareful what you wish for Fred, because Kenny will pitch game two while Verlander pitches game 1
Judging from that picture, something has caused Clemens to put on a little um, weight.
Be careful what I wish for? I am ALWAYS careful what I wish for. Kenny Rodgers, in the postseason, is 0-3 with an 8.85 ERA. Do you even remember this guy in the playoffs for the Yanks in '96? Any guess as to what he will have to listen to when he's on the Yankee Stadium mound? I tingle with anticipation!
Bob,
Clement is on the Red Sox; there is no one named Clements.
Now put down the crayons, and give mommy back her computer.
We now all know that that Pettitee, Clemens et al were NOT involved. How people can defame them based on heresay is disgusting. (Clemens is getting older...some of us tend to gain weight with years.) Try waiting for confimed storys not "I've got the scoop" headline grabbers.
