I love the Boss...what he said is exactly how i feel as well. Joe it's in your hands. George has put his faith in you for one more year try not to let everyone down for the 7th consecutive year. I hope the Joe of the 90's comes back...that is the best Joe. I thought a new voice was needed but maybe you can give this team a new voice. You are an Icon and a legend in NY, that is why you are still employed by the best baseball team in sports. I put my faith in you yet again. Go Yankees.
That Steinbrenner statement is the blandest thing I have ever seen attributed to "The Boss." He wants "enthusiasm, and a fighting spirit," yet at 75 years of age now lacks those very same qualities. Torre knows he will not be held accountable for any Yankee mis-steps next year, and can sleep in peace on the Yankee bench.
