What a crazy, crazy day here yesterday. Check out our back page in today's newspaper; all three stories came from Yankees camp. Hopefully today is quieter...
Here's our stories:
Today it's the relievers turn to throw off a mound in the bullpen. Also, we'll get Pavano's reaction to Mussina's comments.
Comments (39)
Pavano thinking that the Yankee Clubhouse reaction to him has been "overhyped", shows he either doesn't care what his teamamtes think about him, or the guy is oblivious in general. I think Pavano has "stolen" Torre"s nickname. "Clueless" Carl, is an apt monicker.
Best thing that could happen for the Yankee% is if/when they trade Pavano. The guy isn't even a good pithcer when he, you know, actualy pitches! Trade him for anything, take the payroll hit, give his roster spot to Hughes (who hopefully will be yet another hyped up Yankee prospect who doesn't pan out), and move on.
If Pavano had any common sense, he would say something like, "I know I have a lot to do in order to get my my teammates, coaches and fans' faith back, but I'm determined to do it. I want to prove to everyone I can be a key contribtuor, can stay on the field, and do everything I can to help the team win."
Instead, he blames the media. Keep up the good work, Pavano!
Put on a Makeup Mr. Clement..
Clement is a Pavano's Clone
Pavano and Clement must of thought up this robbery when they were in Florida together, some how I think Kevin Brown was also tied into this, one of the biggest heist in MLB history. I'm sure the slip and fall routine is coming any day now.

Maybe Clay Bucholtz - another Overrated Top pitching Redsox pitcher I hope this will be a bust and Next Rich garces. I Hope Rich Garces karma rubs off on Clay Bucholtz. He will be overweight and out of baseball. :)
Mariano Rivera is the only player in baseball history to blow a save in the clinching game of the ALDS, ALCS, and World Series. Don't pay this over rated garbage man anything. He's been over paid since 99.
Bill is a big dummy.
Jim -- thanks, this is great stuff. I'm glad I found it.
Swindal -- good move.
I know, I'm the minority but ... I'm still a Pavano fan(and no, I'm not Pavano's brother).
ashes to ashes, yankees to dust
george steinbrenner, the once proud owner of the once proud yankees, deserves credit for all that he accomplished. now, from what i read, he rides down stairs every morning in his bathrobe on his stair glider, polishes all that dust off his trophies and rings, and waits for the nurse to bring him breakfast. john henry, on the other hand, is out buying half of roush racing, outbidding old george for dice-k, doing tons of charity work, while replacing george as the best owner in baseball. it is a great time to be a fan of the-ole-towne-team.
George's Son in Law Steve Swindal and Future Owner of the Yankees got arrested for DUI. The Yankees organization are in turmoil and a mess. The Yankees Soap Opera continues with Mariano wants a contract extension, and Bernie situation is a mess. The Yankees Empire has fallen and Redsox and Redsox Nation reigns Supreme.
TonyT:
How can you be a Pavano fan when you never seen him pitch?
As for Swindal, I would drink alot to if I had to put up with an offseason of Sheffield's stalking of George and Johnson's complaining. Or Clemens just being the fat jock that he is. I am sure his drinking problems came about during Kevin Brown and Javier Vasquez's wonderful Game 7 performances. He would honestly fit in with those dirty New Englanders because all they do up there is drink themselves to sleep. And for Moose, he should not be talking. I can't remember him ever winning a meaningful game in pinstripes. Last but not least Bernie. I love him but it is time to let him go. If he wants to play fine. Let him play elsewhere. He has nothing to offer this team. His defense sucks,he's slow and his arm sucks. Sure his bat is good but we should not keep one dimensional players around. We already have enough bats. I love Melky and over time I think he will put up similar numbers as Bernie.
John Henry is and always will be a loser. He could not hold George's jock. This spending spree the red sux have been on lately is a result of a lot of embarassment, especially 2006 (5 game sweep was beautiful). They bought 04 and got lucky. Otherwise, its been many decades of futility for Boston and their drunken new england red faced irish loser fans. Lets hope 78, 86, 99 and '03, and '06 happen again to that minor league franchise that plays in a run down, cramped, minor league stadium.
Anyone else see the picture of D-mats at training camp. He's got a nice gut going and some man boobies to boot.
This is the Year My beloved Redsox win the Al east and World Series. The Yankees choked last year playoffs against tigers. Last Year was The Yankees year to win the World Series without The Angels and Redsox.
The Al east improves dramatically. It will be tough for the Yankees to win The division again.
The 2007 season I'm hoping Good Karma and luck went towards Redsox way. Yankees continues to have badluck especially Arod. I'm laughing when Yankees acquired Arod via Trade? Arod's is a curse and bad karma as long he plays for the Yankees and will never win a world series.
Manny Ramirez - 1 world series ring
Arod - none.. :)
Hey Red Sox fan: your comment above actually makes some sense but what do you get out of blogging on the Yankee Blogg?
And to Phreek: If, this is your definition of a mess or turmoil. You have much living to do which is a good thing. This is similar to the Yankees of late 70's. They spoke their mind and went out on the field and won because they backed up their comments on the field. This is all good. Too much harmony breeds complacency. You do not win if your walking through the season looking forward to the playoffs. You need to be tested and come together as a team.
What is your team affiliation? We must know our enemy to defend ourselves! Show your colors or move on!
BoTox fans must have a tremendous inferiority complex.1 World Series ring in 86 yrs .Wow. How many pennants have the Yanks won ,41? 26 World Series ,innumerable division titles. I'll always remember Bucky Dent,Aaron Boone, the BoTox collapse in 1949...we can go on and on
Hi AJ - I agree with all your points.
I don't know why I'm still a fan of his. We did see him pitch against the Yanks. He has potential.
When you think about, isn't there a possible huge upside to him? What if he's as dominant as he was with Fla? Then you have Wang/Pettitte/Pavano/Moose. If he's good, this rotation is awesome.
I love it when Sox fans count rings. Ok, let's count. You picked Manny and I'll pick .. um .. Jeter with 4. Your turn.
Ok This centry Redsox won 1, Yankees won zero world series title.
The Yankees will never win a world series as long Republic seated in Whitehouse.
Enough said....
Phreek: Now, you have exposed yourself be prepared to be accosted by a bunch of veteran Yankee fans.
Also, If your amunition is The Red Sox's have won more WS than the Yankees in this century and the political party assumption. I would fall back and retool.
This much I will say, " cannot wait for the Red Sox's vs the Yankees from fenway. One great venue to watch these two go at it.
Larry M
I've got my machete at the ready! Hey, that rhymes, pretty good huh?
Anyhow, I think if we all just stop responding to these uneducated idiots from Boston, they'll get the hell off our blog. Just ignore their stupid ranting.
I second that Rick!
Most of the times I have to read every post form them two times to understand fully their nonsense!
Ok This century Redsox won 1, Yankees won zero world series title.
The Yankees will never win a world series as long Republican President seated in Whitehouse.
Enough said....
During the next 86 yrs, Yankees 27 more world titles, red sux, 1...hey wait, that pattern seems familiar...
Dave, Are you daydreaming at your dayjob again?
Redsox will win 27 titles and yankees 0
Thanks to The New Ownership of John Henry and Mr Lucchino. It completely changes redsox organization around and tide completely. The Redsox will stay competitive and compete for a championship every year as Ownership spends the money.
Phreek: What you trying to antagonize Yankee fans? Surely you must be joking! You beantown retad.
So -- what century does 2000 belong?
I know, let's count how many WS rings the Yankees have won since Jan. 1 2007.
Busted For DUI? by Carson Danfield
DUI laws are quite complex and vary from state to state. For example, California DUI Laws are so strict that the state leads the nation in DUI arrests. There were almost 200,000 people arrested for DUI in California alone last year. When a person is arrested on DUI charges in Florida, he has approximately ten days to ask for a hearing with the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles to protect his license from being confiscated permanently.
Most people think that if they get pulled over for DUI, and are below the legal limit, that the officer will let them go or they will only be fined and not charged. Actually, an arrest for DUI can be made at any blood alcohol level.
The physical evidence of drunk driving includes slurred speech; inability to perform normal activities like standing, walking, or turning; red, glassy, bloodshot eyes; dilated pupils; and odor of alcohol on the breath.
Some DUI defense attorneys report that breathalyzers used by law enforcement do not accurately measure alcohol -- and thus may produce falsely high "blood alcohol" readings. Additionally, diabetics with low blood sugar can have high levels of acetone, which is "seen" as alcohol by breathalyzers.
If convicted, the DUI can render the defendant financially, socially, and psychologically impoverished and impaired. However, it is possible to have DUI records cleared in almost all states.
Many people charged with DUI want to know what a DUI attorney can do for them.
A well-qualified and professional DUI attorney can help to minimize the severity of DUI records and in some cases they can eliminate your DUI records completely.
A DUI attorney can check the case against you for errors, have samples independently analyzed, move to suppress certain evidence, arrange for expert testimony and witnesses, contest license suspensions and negotiate reduced penalties and sentences. DUI attorneys have to be knowledgeable and well versed in subjects such as blood analysis, breath tests, drug recognition evaluation and urine tests.
MISLEADING STATEMENTS BY POLICE OFFICERS
Any misleading statement by the police regarding the consequences of taking (or refusing) a blood, breath, or urine test can cause the suspension to be reversed and removed from the driver’s record.
Think all policemen are 'officer friendly'? Think they're all honest? Think again. I've known several policemen in different parts of the country and you'd be surprised at some of their 'tricks of the trade' that they routinely utilize. Keep in mind that these cops were personal friends of mine and bragged about some of the things they did -
A) If you want to cause problems for a driver you've pulled over, cite him for DUI and write in your report that when asked for his registration and proof of insurance, the driver seemed confused and disoriented. The fact of the matter is that most everyone stores these documents in their glove compartment, along with lots of other papers and miscellaneous junk. Of course, it will take anyone a couple of minutes to find the requested papers, but reporting that the driver appeared confused and disoriented will go a long way in convincing a judge that the driver was indeed impaired.
B) If a cop wants to make some extra cash, he'll check the record of anyone he pulls over for drunk driving. If the driver has had previous DUI convictions, he's the perfect target for a big cash bribe. He's given the choice of being cited for a second or third DUI, or he can pay a 'fine' in cash, directly to the cop. Given the choice of heavy DUI penalties or paying the cop, many drivers will fork over the cash.
C) Sit outside of a banquet hall that's used for wedding receptions. In almost all cases, there's drinking going on, so whenever anyone leaves, pull them over, threaten them with a DUI citation and then offer to let them go if they pay the fine right now.
There are other money-making routines the cops use, but I think you get the idea. When a cop pulls you over, you're at his mercy.
Since I've had several cops, from different parts of the country, brag about doing things like this, I have to conclude that such practices are not just isolated cases.
LACK OF PROBABLE CAUSE TO ARREST
A police officer must have specific and supportable facts to support any arrest for DUI, or the suspension will be reversed and the evidence suppressed at trial. In simple terms, you shouldn't be pulled over for DUI just because you're driving a red sports car.

hi..
There was just about everything baseball in this store and the staff are typical to Wendy's. They're there for their 8 hours and don't care about you or the other people inside. They will ignore you and chit chat amongst one another unless you get their attention. I believe they have a security guard at the front for this very reason. If there was no one watching the door, the staff wouldn't even notice someone walking out the front door of a life sized cut out of Babe Ruth.
