« Jeter out | Main | D-Rays' Crawford with grand slam »

Jeter day-to-day

We got word that Derek Jeter is day-to-day with a bruised left thigh suffered when a Scott Kazmir pitch hit him in the first inning.
Devil Rays trail 2-1. Chien-Ming Wang has been very good in his season debut. Wang, who missed the first three weeks with a hamstring strain, has allowed two earned runs on five hits (all singles) and no walks. The Yankees' lone run came on a Hideki Matsui home run.

Lol at Redsox. Jays owned Redsox. Without Glaus and Reed Johnson in the lineup... They will get swept by Bluejays again..

Jeter?????? When you think about it, A-Rod has the heart of this team.... Honestly, Jeter and Torre have to much of a cliche going.
In order to win.... ALL the players need to be on the same plane and have the same desire to win.
I think the Torre/Jeter era are ruining this team.
I was always a Jeter fan. but itf you think about it... check him out, he's an ego boy.

It sure looks like it.....oh well...they will still be in first place. and, well the Yanks...will still be below the mendoza line.

Observer,
It's really not worth it getting into arguments with the trolls that post on this site from time to time, don't waste your energy responding to silliness.

Not to nitpick, but the Mendoza line is when a batter is hitting below .200. I know you know this already I understand what you meant and sadly (for me) it's true.

co:
your starting to sound like a typical sox fan, celebrating in april!!!

Ok...guilty as charged...to both Jim and Mike....sorry.

Trust me...I aint celebrating anything..yet...I have hopes to celebrate in oct.

As we all do my friend.

Why did Torre take Wang out after 81 pitches and puts in Vizacaino, who's arm is going to fall off at this rate?!?

their goes torre again with the bullpen! bring them in and burn them up!!!

does anybody in the yankee organization see whats going on or do we sound like idiots complaining about the wat torre handles the pitching staff???

torre is so stupid!!!
vizcaino just got harris out so this may work out, but still it's an idiot's decision:
runners on 2nd and 3rd, 1st base open, 1 out. obviously you walk baldelli to get to the rays' weakest hitter.
you need a double play ground ball. if only you had at your disposal the MLB's leader in ground balls for 2006... that could be perfect.
oh wait... you do - he's on the mound and already induced a clutch DP.
well, what better time to yank him for a guy whose last off day was before he signed with the yankees.
and again, maybe this time the yanks will escape, but as a decision it just shows - torre's got nothing.

GREAT MOVE TORRE!!!!!!
THAT TWICE HE F@$K US WITH BRINGING IN MYERS!!
I REALLY AM STARTING TO HATE TORRE!!!!

oh well... i hate when my negative predictions come true... but this was obvious. myers needs to be cut tonight. out of respect - torre should be fired tomorrow morning.

the 3-2 lead was nice while it lasted.Myers gives up a grand slam to Crawford. How demoralizing !

WHY BRING IN MYERS WHEN VISCAINO HAS MORE SUCCESS AGAINST LEFTYS THEN RIGHTYS
WHY WHY WHY!!!!
I AM SO DAME MAD!!!!!!!!!!

are y'all aware that with this impending loss the yanks are going to be last in the AL east?

What did I tell you?

It was only a couple of days ago that I said Torre loved left vs. left, right vs. right matchups, regardless of the situation or the players involved.

He is an old fogey that they should've let loose a couple of years ago.

tell me, has farnsworth been released and no one told us???
oh, and another great "defensive" switch by torre - took damon out for mientky, because obviously at 3-2 the game was over.
so now we have mientky batting 1st, cairo 2nd.
torre is a bloody genius...

I wouldn't be surprised if Torre is gone by the end of the month.

I HATE TORRE!!!

i hope you are right ruse. this season can and will get out of hand if they dont make a move soon.and i hope mattingly is not the one.they have bowa, pena, and joe giaradi to choose from

Torre will NOT be gone by the end of the month.

The Yankees have become a very cautious and conservative organization now.

If April stays bad, they will still "hold out" hope to see maybe if things will get better.

Torre will remain for the rest of the season to kill their chances once again for another year, I guarantee it!

HOPE YOUR WRONG ERIC!!!

the practical reason why torre's still here is that he very cleverly forged an alliance with cashman ages ago and cashman knows that he needs him as a pawn in his fight vs. tampa-yankees.
if torre's gone, cashman is left exposed with many people from florida looking to get even with him.
however, if torre had ANY dignitiy he'd quit - but he's too greedy.

but numbers speak for themself gil and george will step in and make a change if this continues!!!

Perhaps, but Torre is still very popular with the players, so they'll always argue on his behalf.

It'll be tough to get rid of this rotting mess that's been around for five years too long.

I didn't say he would be gone ,I said "I wouldn't be surprised".
The Yanks obviously are the best hitting team in the league.Yes it's the injuries to the starters that created this avalanche, but Torre is way to formulaic in how he sees the game unfold.
He's managing from fear right now .

by the way, the mets are looked in extra innings of a 0-0 game - their starter: one orlando hernandez, 7 shut out innings, EAR around 2.5, was let go by cashman after 2004 so he could go ahead and sign pavano and wright.
where is the accountability?????
and yes, el duque is old and risky and also... how do you call it?... oh, a proven winner. yes, much wiser signing sub .500 perennial losers like wright and pavano, at least they don't present ab injury risk...

Hey...if it's any consolation...the Sox are getting slayed by the Jays

PFFFFTTTTT!

Casual, get out of here.

We don't want to talk about the Sox.

We don't give a sh*t about them right now, we've got our own problems.

ruse,

it's way beyond fear, it's plain stupidity. if you need a double play because the bases are loaded you REMOVE your best ground ball pitcher? the LEAGUE's best ground ball pitcher?
if i didn't know better i'd say someone in vegas told torre he goes down in the 7th...

Ok Eric....we can talk about how the koolaid taste so good and how everything will just be fine.....is that better?

Gil L:

Don't mention El Duque one of my all time favorites. He knows a thing or two about pitching.Pitching to situations. He loves to compete.

torre again (hate him...)

thanks to his brilliant pattern of substitutions, this what we have coming in the 9th:
cano, cabrera, mientky, cairo... and no one on the bench...
really, this is beyond bad management, it's the action of a manager looking to get fired.

Give Torre an extension!

I love ya, Joey!

HAHAHHAHAH

LMFAO at Devil Rays fans chanting Yankees Sucl!

eric,

don't count on torre's popularity. a-rod has a score to settle with him dating back to last year's playoffs, most other players came way after the success of last decade.
the players are not stupid. they can see their manager is killing them, not sticking up when officials blow calls (yesterday) or when they get HBP. he is weak and the players know it. i'm pretty sure they wouldn't mind seeing him go.

farnsworth just finished an innings using 6 pitches. i guess he's done until next sunday.

Demoralizing ! I don't how many times Cabrera has grounded out to the 1st baseman unassisted ! Mankanthicz continues .Why where these to numbskulls batting in the 9th inning? Torre you fool !

Why are you laughing at DRays fans? Their team just swept you, and right now yours does suck.
