We will get a win. It's going to happen.
Boston would be lost without the Yankees. Nothing to be obsessed with. They'd be bored silly just like the rest of that state.
Will it be this year, Jeff??
For the Yankee's sake, I hope they lose.
Of course, the way things are going, I don't have to hope too hard. :)
That's the only way changes will be made, if there is pain.
stupid ump gave petitte nothing on low pitches, but gives dice-k strikes for pitches almost bounces on the ground!!
why doesn't torre stand up for his hitters??? even if he gets ejected it's worth it - light some fire under this team.
what's more, the crowd seems dead. it's the red sox - yankees for pete's sake!!
So what dumb move will Torre make that will cost them the game tonight?
Not that I care anymore since I'm actually rooting for Torre to screw up as much as possible.
i know that torre is all about professionalism, restrain, calm and peace on earth, but the ump is killing petitte and the crowd is asleep.
i really think if this continues he needs to get himself ejected today.
IS THIS THE SAME UMPIRE!!!
THIS MAN SHOULD BE SELLING HOTDOGS
ANYTHING ON THE CORNERS IS A BALL PHUCK THIS GUY
this is crap. dice-k can throw a wild pitch and get a strike today.
veritek is such a brilliant pitch caller i'd have him on my team if he hit .200. they way he got cano out now was text book. cano's been swinging at high fastballs all season, so 0-2 down veritek signals to dice-k "get this one really up", he throws it almost head high and cano holds back.
next pitch is another high heat, this time shoulder high, but because of the previous pitch and the changing of eye level, cano swings and gets nothing but air.
Best thing that can happenn to the team is if Torre goes overboard and gets thrown out. It'll wake the team up and I'm hoping it happens.
i don't believe it!!
i was watching abreu and thinking - here comes the double play, and what do you know...
the guy is becoming a rally killer, an inning killer.
i wrote yesterday, if he keeps it up he's going to get booed hard and soon.
cano is just looking completely overmatched...
oh, and doug m HAS GOT to go. he is at single A level now.
Does somebody know why torre keeps Doug in bases loaded situation?
Damon & Jeter clutch!!!!
i don't know why they keep doug in baseball related situations.
Get Doug and Igawa off this team.
- Yankee fans
ruse,
let's be honest, posada & damon blooped big time, however damon had a perfect at bat so he deserved his fluke...
I would trade Giambi. His value is higher than anyone else we are looking to dump. We might be able to get a descent pitcher or 2 for him. He is too one dimensional of a player. His does not provide us with a glove or speed and he runs the bases like a moron so I would be willing to give up the bat and get some better players that can actually help this team.
Gil ,Baseball is a game of inches.Take what you can get !
Seems to be te Yankees have been bad since you got a new beat reporter. Coincidence, I think not!
May you go 8-154.
this is becoming way too familiar... high pitch count, sox slowly chomping... no good at all.
This umpire is the worst umpire I have seen since I was twelve years old playing little league. I think Petitte aged a year by the time he calls a strike. As for the panicking, yes things look bad now, but it is not the time to panic. Wait till your starting pitchers get healthy and then see where you are. If you pull a trade now, the trade partner will smell the desperation and take advantage. Its a 162 game schedule. There are peaks and valleys... Granted this is like Death Valley, but...
this is just terrible baseball. another pitcher not going into the 6th. and posada, who killed hughes yesterday with his pathetic defense, just let in a run.
Gil
I agree .Pettitte walks 4 ,wild pitch .
i just love the "no panic" guys... it's like a mantra meant more to convince the writer. pointing out OBVIOUS flaws in the team is not panic, especially since these flaws were pointed out by many of us during spring training.
i would like to hear something tangible behind no panic mantras. injuries? right now it's only mussina and every team in the league suffers something like that, enough of this excuse.
This cannot continue. I love Pettitte but we need starters to go deep into the game. It is time we look at these "sluggers" we have in this lineup that usually don't slug anything come divison series time and look to trade for some pitching.
poor proctor... i don't think he is really that good anyway, but with his work load he's got no chance.
what do you think, myers vs. ortiz?
Who wants to bet that Mientkiewicz's next at bat will be an out (right now he is 0-2)?
I said this in another post and I'll repeat it, the umpire in Friday night's game was a disgrace. His outrageous calls on Matsusaka's low pitches turned this baseball game into a game of golf. His fat, old, useless eyeballs -- as well as those of the rest of his cronies -- should be replaced with electronic eyes so that these games can be called a competition once again, rather than a reflection of blindness and personal sentiment. We have the technology, it's time we've used it wisely and fairly.
