The Yankees have lost seven in a row now, the most since 2000. If things don't turn around quickly, it seems something has got to give. What that is is the question. The pitching has been horrible, and the last two days, the offense hasn't been great either. We will see what comes next.

Bad day -
My sadness falling from my eyes
Dampening my regrets
Making rivers in my veins
Flooding all my happiness
Spilling over into my heart
There's nothing left to feel
The love has now drowned
Suffocating in my sorrow
Never again to breathe
wow thats dark
Is that the same 2000 when we won the World Series?
Saw about an hour ago on ESPN News that Steinbrenner is livid and is very close to making some type of change-Obviously things will be quite worse after they lose today. This from Red Sox Schil Buster Olney(I hate his guts)
Who says theyre losing today? lets try waiting and seeing. Frankly i think Torre has to go, not because of his post season record recently, but because he is too passive, and abuses the pen. Everyone know it. Most managers will let starters struggle every once in a while so they can conserve those arms for when they have a chance to win. Torre really has played every game this year as though his job depended on it and now because of that.... ironically it does.
We need to get "swept" in order to get Torre fired. Short term pain, for a long term gain. If we want to get this team headed in the right direction, Torre has to go. That should be the first step "The Boss" takes, to wake up this team.
One thing that may work without Torre being fired is if he does flip out on the team... which has happened before. Although his pen use is still inexcusable. This chronic overuse may perminantly destroy a lot of young arms, particularly Proctor and Henn who are important long term pieces.
torre
i was very encouraged by the reports in various papers and news affiliates that torre is about to go. i think if he had any of the decency and class that so many people seem to attribute to him he'd quit.
lucy,
the rose color on your glass is pasted too thick, you can't see the reality any more. in 2000 the yanks lost 7 in a row in september, with their playoff position all but secured, resting some starters and regulars. and it's not the streak, it's the how you lose. i can live with a streak of 3-2, 2-1, 1-0 loses where the other guy just outpitch you. i know you saw the game last night and you saw a dead team that sleep-walked through a game with its eternal arch-rival.
i really really hope that GS still has the fortitude to over-rule torre apoligist and champion of the mediocre cashman and get rid of torre.
if we need to get swept in order for that to happen, it is well worth it.
p.s. we might get swept anyway just because the sox are a superior team right now...
Fire Torre....the team looks just like they did vs. Detroit in the playoffs last year, lifeless and dead...I know he is only the manger...but this is the same manager who didn't order 1 bunt vs. Schilling in the infamous bloody sock game that has gotten so much pub lately and was the manger of the only up 3-0 collapse in baseball postseason history…..he should have been fired after that……hire Giradi and see if he will keep the rest of the coaching staff intact…send Igawa down, release Myers, bring up Villone and Britton, and maybe even Rasner, release Cairo, bring up Gonzalez as the utility infielder…..start telling Matsui he will be playing first base next year to make room for Ichiro as the new center fielder…start playing Phelps over Minky…
Keith
Cairo is not the problem,I like Gonzalez but he isn't going to have any impact on the team.
However I agree on Britton .Why is he rotting at Scranton ?
The Yanks will never release Myers .Trade yes.
Did someone really just write a poem about the Yankees losing? I didn't know emos were allowed to like baseball, I thought that was too conformist.
Anyway, good news - Giambi has been texting Roger Clemens. Also, I hear Jorge Posada friended him on My Space, and has been leaving him comments non stop with like You Tube videos of Roger pitching in big games for the Yanks.
Torre should be gone even if we win this series! he should've been gone before the season started.
Move Girardi from the announcer's booth to the Yankees dugout!!!
First pitch in and our starter goes down. Wow.
i'm lost for words.
BRING UP VILLONE?????
HAVE WE LOST OUR MINDS!!!
Gil, your sarcastic allusion to rose colored glasses and my so-called inability to face reality was unnecessary and totally uncalled for. You could have made your comment without editorializing. FYI, my statement was not meant to be taken serious, as a plausible argument for keeping the faith. I realize the circumstances are different. It was merely a glib comment not intended to elicit such serious sentiment. Take a chill pill, My Friend.
