Time to get NEW Centerfielder, Damon's can't cover any ground in the outfield more... GoOd jOB by Cashman signing this bum...

OKAY

WHY DID JOE REMOVE CLAY AIKEN???

DESALVO'S NEVER RELIEVED BEFORE AND CLAY ATLEAST COULD FIND THE PHUCKING GLOVE!!!

Can someone please tell me why Torre took out Clippard for DeSalvo?

Thanks in advance.

chalk down another loss to torre's idiotic mismanaging of the pitching staff.
the kid was doing fine, not spectacular, but kept us in the game. now we throw in the towel - vizcaino.
i guess torre felt bad that the boss only named cashman on the hook and wants to prove him wrong.
just ridicolous bad decision making.

This is where Torre is a terrible manager. The Yanks are behind 3-2 still a very close game ,so what does he do? He brings a rookie pitcher who hasn't pitched in over a week who has been known to have control problems from time to time ? What is the thinking behind all this ? Torre just handed the game to the Angels !! This is called managing? Unbelievable !!

WE all could manage better than Torre .I'm beside myself !! What an idiot !

Clay was just beginning to settle down I don't think Joe or Guidry know what the hell theyre doing. Guidry should be axed and Mattingly should be returned to his hitting coach designation.

FORGIVE ME BUT WHERE THE HELL IS MEL STOTTLYEMERE?

DID HE QUIT? WAS IT A MEDICAL THING BLAH I'LL STOP NOW...

GOOD NIGHT ALL

PHUCKER

The clueless Joe excuse will be "Well the kid's pitch count was high and we wanted to give the Angels a different look" I guarantee that's what he'll say !

the yanks lead the majors in pitching changes, and it's quite amazing that so many of thses changes backfired on us.
if torre doesn't know what he's doing pitching wise, whici is a given, the pitching coach has to step up or go.
i vote the latter.
and torre just keeps mumbling about having no margin for error as a team, yet keep making stupid mistakes.
a rookie in relief for the first time in his life in a tight one run game. that's a manager letting his team down.

Anthony,

Hughes "rolling his ankle" was a false publicity stunt...

It's all part of Operation K's radical and timely strategy.

Make sure not to leak this to anyone outside of the organization.

We all must remain calm and stonefaced!!

The mission depends on such...

and even more annoying:

torre likes to show support for his players, e.g. keeping slumping hitters in the lineup regardless of zero production (abreu...), yet pulls a pitcher who wasn't doing that bad.
what about his confidence?
doesn't he deserve support?
idiot.

GIL

I can't deal with this ! I'm tired of the incompetence of these alleged baseball "experts"

Operation K has my complete trust and confidence. Stone face in place. Tell me the hunt is on, but don't tell me which operative gets the assignment, because you would have to kill me, which would be a waste of precious operational resources. You can just let the game do that.

This is the most lethargic unispired group of dicks i have ever watched. The management, ownership should be embarassed with these millionares efforts. For there to be 0 changes since all this pathethic efforts, they all get what they deserve. They suck!

Yikes....

That bullpen strikes again.

3 pitchers used in the first 5 innings....that cannot be good.

George throws a jolt into Cashman. It should be a signal for Cashman to get off his collective ass and make some moves. He can start off by sending Vizcaino and Melky down and replacing them with Chris Britton and Shelley Duncan to show the team that complacency is not the name of the game. There's no sense of urgency with this team. A loss is just another loss. Where is the fire ????

Ahhh - good. Wil Nieves is behind the plate today. That should send a message to the Angels that they are not in the heads of the Yankees. That is the attaboy move of the day.
LOL .....

Torre stated that Clippard was pulled because he was all over the place and couldn't locate. I thought that was true in the earlier innings, but he seemed to settle down and started to pitch well. I, too, thought he was pulled prematurely.

According to Yankees.com (MLB website), Hughes did roll his ankle, he's scheduled for a precautionary MRI today, they don't think it's really anything, and it might set him back a couple of days. With the way things are going for us this season, we probably won't see Hughes until July -- or maybe not the rest of the season.

Right now Johnny Damon looks to be no more than a Bubba Crosby with a much bigger contract and less of an arm. Two more years of this ????

Much to-do is made by the media concerning the Angels' "dominance" over the Yankees, since they are the ONLY team that boasts a winning record against us. The numbers are worthy of mention.

From 1996 (when Torre arrived) until 2006 (the last full season), the Angels' record has been 55-52. That's merely 3 more wins in the course of 10 years or one more win averaging every 3 1/3 years. If you add the two playoff wins in that period (which is all there is), it adds up to the Angels winning one game more than the Yankees an average of every two years.

Personally, I think the Yankees winning "dominance" over 28 other teams is more impressive than the Angels 10-year, three-game "dominance" over us (or four counting yesterday's win, but that's going into the 11th year). The fact that the wins are so scattered and that the Angels are in a different division makes these wins less significant. While the media is jumping up and down over these stats every time we play the Angels, I sure do hope the Yankees put these numbers in proper perspective.

Quote from Buster "The Rabbit" Olney

"Red Sox, who had a two-year head start on the Yankees in their own rebuilding job, may turn out to be the greatest beneficiaries". Does anyone know what Buster trying to say here? The Redsox have a better farm system and brighter future than Yankees? Craig Hansen, Manny Delcarmen? The only bright future on The Redsox that they have a stud pitcher in their farm system and his name Clay Bucholtz... Signing Matsuzaka , JD Drew and Julio Lugo in the offseason and trading for Beckett will be will have great benefits .The fact is that Boston Redsox spends money this offseason. Cashman's main objective is to reduce payroll in the offseason and signing mediocre pitchers like Igawa.

I think Cashman should be let go and awful job building this team. Signing Pavano, Igawa, and trading for Vizcaino.. Vizcaino is the next Felix Heredia. Ross Ohlendorf is on the DL and Steven Jackson had 5+ era in Scranton.. I would rather have Micah Owings .

Last rant of the morning, the farm system: if you want homegrown cheap young arms, you have to risk and tolerate inconsistencies and losses. We can't afford either right now, but that's what we're stuck with. Growing a farm system takes years, so we shouldn't expect miracles.

Oh, and when the hell do we play last place Texas again and 2nd to last place Kansas City (who we haven't seen at all)? I guess it doesn't matter, really, because if we can't beat the good teams, we're not going very far even if we do make the post-season.

Vizcaino = Felix Heridia lost brother.

Good thing we signed Damon to replace the aging Bernie Williams! Poor old Bernie just couldn't cover the ground anymore, couldn't throw, basically couldn't do anything, etc..

But the brilliant Cashman dumped the old stiff Bernie and brought in this young phenoem CF to take his place! Great Move!!!

Roster moves that need to be made:

1. CF Damon on DL.
2. Trade Vizcaino, for low level prospect or just eat contract and release.
3. Trade F-worth,for back-up catcher, and reserve infielder. Eat salary if necessary.
4. Call up K. Thompson OF
5. Call up Britton RP
6. Call up S.Henn for long relief roll.
7. Trade Giambi. He cannot run, or field, and is currently not hitting for power. Where is his value? Other teams may be attracted by his track-record though and jump at the opportunity.
8. Fire Joe Torre, hire Girardi.
9. Fire pitching coach Guidry. Is Kaat or Hershiser available??

People on here complain about Mussina's Excuses when he doesn't do well. Does anybody notice that Damon is worse than Moose at this excuse game? If he does well, everything's fine, but if he sucks (which is often), well the legs "cramped up" again.

I'm not buying this lame crap anymore. You're either healthy or you're not, and if not, then get your butt on the DL so we can fill the roster with a real player. I loved the chant for B-E-R-N-I-E W-I-L-L-I-A-M-S after Damon dropped the ball last night!!!!!

P.S. How come Damon is always nursing injuries so early in the year every season? Nagging minor injuries usually catch up to players during the dog days of a season, not April & May. It seems like Damon comes out of the gate nursing things every year.

If Texieria is made available this year, Yankees better get this guy!

Rick, who would you be willing to give up, that Texas would want, to get T man?

Regarding Damon, I believe he is a gamer, and a winner, he'll run through a wall for his team. It's just that physically he can't do it right now. Which puts the onus squarely on management (Torre and Cashman) to recognize this and put this guy on the DL for 2 weeks or 1 month to fully heal up. This is managing 101 and frustrates the hell out of me that management doesn't recognize Damon is killing this team with his availability limited to 4-5 days a week.

I just read in another blog it's presumed Arte Moreno of the Angels will offer A-Rod partnership as an owner to lure him to that team. Do you think we can offer him the Brooklyn Bridge to stay here? Maybe Steinbrenner can offer him adoption and/or a piece of his inheritance. If England had baseball, I'm sure the Queen would offer him a title, some land, and a piece of the throne. A-Rod may become the most valuable commodity the the world come next season.

Tyler Clippard as quoted in the NY Times "I never really had a terrible inning.I never got into a bad rut.I was very, very surprised. You're a starter and your team is in the game.Yeah I want the ball"

Mike Gonzalez the lefty reliever some of you thought the Yanks should have traded Melky for is out until at least mid 2008 w/rotator cuff surgery.

Many will say that Torre's managing is questionable and that may be true but it's Cashman that provided close to half the roster out on the field today.

Anyoen else just can't stand the Angels?!?!?!?

WHy can't we ever beat this team!

abreu leading off...
torre may say he supports cashman but he sure is trying to lose as hard as he can.

Lucy

LOL Well done. I think as bridges go up here we'd be lowballing him a bit.

I'd start at the Brooklyn but you can be certain that we'll have to up the ante to Verazzano.

Maybe we could petition France to build us a huge A-Rod Statue!! We could stand him up right next to Lady Liberty...That would surely seal the deal.

Michael, you made the best offer and that's a great visual: A statue of A-Rod standing big and tall next to Lady Liberty. I think that would be a cinch to seal the deal, A-Rod to New York in 2008.

you don't mess with the ghosts of the ballpark and expect to get away it. the yankee will never win again. some people just don't get it. nice going cashman, for giving us cabera and mientkiewicz instead of berie william. thank god you will fall very soon.

It only took Torre a few years but finally he has shaped the Yankees in his image. Devoid of any emotion. When was the last time u saw Torre get off his butt and run to the defense of his players. Where have you gone Billy, we need you more than ever. I would rather have a Wally Blackman type fire brand than another recycled ex-manager.

Frenchy, the ballpark hasn't been touched yet and Bernie is history because he had no defensive abilities left. Bernie was offered the opportunity to stay and if he took it, he might still be playing and given an opportunity to prove he still has it. But he's gone and enough is enough about him. Time to move on.
