Pinstripes in the Park

FYI for those of you who might like to watch one of these road games with some other fans: Wednesday night's Yankees-Blue Jays game will be aired on a giant outdoor screen in Manhattan's Bryant Park at 42nd Street and Sixth Ave. It is a free showing, sponsored by the Yankees and Continental Airlines. Continental will give out free roundtrip airlines tickets after each inning.

Roger Clemens will make his third minor league start at 5 p.m. for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre against Toledo.

Is Giambi not the biggest idiot and phony?

Giambi is a big fraud. He used steroids and a lot of other stuff to artificially enhance his performance for years in order to get that big pay day, and he got it. The Yankees paid this bum $120M and he's not worth even half that, not even a third. He stopped taking the steroids and his performance dropped and his true talent is showing and his body is falling apart due to his abuse of those drugs.
He's a big phony when he came out a few years ago and apologize for "being a distraction" when his grand jury testimony in the BALCO case was leaked to the media. All Giambi has done is dance around the subject in order to protect his guaranteed contract. Everyone has wanted to give Giambi credit for that lame apology in which he never admitted to anything, never took responsibility for anything and never told the truth about anything. All Giambi has ever done is say nothing that would put his contract in jeopardy. His latest statements were more of the same. In which he never said anything incriminating that put his guaranteed contract in jeopardy.
Giambi is a bigger phony and a bigger idiot than any of the BALCO guys or the other steroid suspects. Bonds and Sheffield never claimed to be holier than thou and then tested positive for amphetamines. They never danced around the subject in order to protect their contracts. They're not media darlings, they're hard guys. But I have a bit more respect for Sheffield and Bonds than I do for Giambi.
Everyone is worried about Bonds hitting 756 HRs but Giambi defrauded the Yankees out of about $85M over the 7 year deal he signed. He's a bum and he deserves more abuse from fans and media than anyone on the 2007 Yankees.

Giambi is a fraud. If he truly felt sorry he would tell the organization the truth that he did continue to take steroids as a Yankee and in doing so void his contract. But he won't do that because not only is he a fraud, but he's a phony. If he's not going to come clean and tell the truth then I don't want to hear from him. He should keep his mouth shut. All he's doing is tip-toeing around the issue in order to protect his contract.
If he's going to be a man then he should be a man and be honest. He's a phony and an idiot. Giambi is a bum. He's the inspiration to marginal players to use steroids and get a big pay day.

TEXAS RANGERS ARE 18-32 AND 12 1/2 GAMES OUT. BUT THEY'RE NOT GIVING UP:

"I've been 14 games out before and won it [a division]," Washington said. "We're going to keep fighting.

"I keep saying we're right there, but every night I come in here [the media interview room] and we've lost a game."

Loe and Young echoed their manager's thoughts on the Rangers not giving up on the season.

"We do still have four months left," Loe said.

Young, in fact, made reference to a neighbor of the Rangers from down south as a possible inspiration for the team to turn its season around.

"Houston's record when they went to the World Series in 2005 was similar to ours," Young said.

Then he added that the performances of the Rangers' two top relievers Sunday was a most unusual situation that opponents need not count on.

"Given the same situation [in future games], I like our chances," Young said.

If anybody is interested "Espn News" is televising Clemens' last "warmup" it's on right now.

Still hoping, I think you ought to check how far out of the WILD CARD that Astros team was, bc that's how they got into the playoffs. Guarantee it was closer than the Yankees are right now.

Then again maybe Pettitte and Clemens will bring some "Astro Magic" to the Bronx. Ha ha.

And to Anonymous, who is the bigger fraud? The fraud, or the fans who've blindly cheered him as a hero for 2 years just because he started hitting home runs again? Spare us, please.

By the way it's funny how Yankees fnas are first in line on putting an asterisk on everything from the "steroid era." In case you didn't notice, the Yankees dynasty falls smack on top of it. Pettitte, Clemens...and hmm, always wondered how skinny little Mo could keep firing away without any hint of arm trouble. Hate to make accusations, but put the individual accomplishments of McGwire, Sosa, and Barry aside and the kings of the steroid era are your NY Yankees.

Is ESPN also covering Clemens last stop in the men's room? I mean, come on.

Is ESPN also covering Clemens last stop in the men's room? I mean, come on.

The fork is in -- your brain. Come back when you have something solid, like proof. You apparently know nothing about what steroids do to an athlete's body. Skinny Mariano who has been pitching effectively with CUTTERS IN PROPER LOCATION for 12 years is far from a typical steroid user. His body is the exact opposite of what steroid users look like. Fork in your brainless head, your allegations are as pathetic as you are, Fool.

For in your brainless head, you missed the point about teams coming from behind. No matter what other teams do, some teams have and will come from behind, as many as 15 games and possibly more. Generally when teams come from behind, other teams who are in front fall behind (trading places). But we are talking possibilities not necessarily results. Wake up, brain surgeon.

make that FORK in your brainless head. Need to give you the respect you don't deserve.

The Mariano Rivera steroid accusation was baseless, pointless, and irresponsible. It's true, you never know, but there is ZERO evidence that leads anyone to believe that Mo is a steroid abuser. In fact the opposite is true... if he were a steroid abuser his body would've deteriorated and would have become injury prone.

As for Giambi, I don't begrudge him for what he's said. He is the only one that has admitted/apologized for what he did. Obviously, he can't say definitively due to the legal ramifications. Would you? Would you risk legal action by incriminating yourself? I don't think so. How can you attack him, but give Bonds a pass? Bonds lied under oath (allegedly) about his steroid use and it is beyond me how he escaped the national scrutiny that so impuned the reputations of McGwire, Sosa, and Palmeiro. Bonds is at the top of the Steroid Sh?t List... maybe second to Palmeiro since he was caught.

I meant the national scrutiny of the Congressional Steroid Witch Hunt... btw.

Look,
I cant help myself.....to all my NYY friends...let me repeat, I've been there, dont that...I DO feel your pain.

That said....all you idiots who contineu to beat your shest about how the Yanks are the class org of the mlb, and how in the end they will be the world champions, how YOU are the best fans in the world and deserve nothing less than what the Yanks will provide....I mean...you are beyond laughable....you are luicrious. YOU are getting what YOU deserve......to the rest of the folks...better days ARE coming.

Casual Observer, what are you talking about? What comment did anyone here make that you find objectionable? You're ranting about a lot of nonsense. Why don't you state who said what and why you find that specific statement objectionable. You sound like a lunatic at the moment.

Wow did that strike a nerve!

Thanks for the lesson on cutters - the point was that despite the popular opinion of dopes like you, the effect of steroids on most is not to turn them into Hulk-sized monsters like Bonds or McGwire but to shorten recovery times and enable the body to handle unnatural stress - like throwing said cutters for 10 years without a hint of arm trouble.

Anyway, point is the Yankees were the TEAM that was on top during this era, so be careful what you rail against. They looked awfully fresh every October...no injuries, no slumps...little .220 hitting Brosius knocking clutch homers all over the place, Tino's bizarrely out of place 48-homer year, Rocket and his 10-year fountain of youth...you do the math. But no, I'm sure while individuals made a mockery of the record book the Yankees rose to the top because they were 100% clean and stood for truth, justice, and the American Way!!

Time to relieve Joe Torre from his misery. Girardi and Mattingly can share the duties, with Girardi being the no.1, for the rest of the year. Say goodbye to Guidry as the pitching coach. Loved him as a player, not so much as a pitching coach. Kerrigan can handle these duties the rest of the way. Kevin Long should be sent back to AAA, and Mattingly should serve dual role - bench coach/hitting coach. Also, allow Jeter to lead off for the rest of the year, with Damon and Cano sharing hitting second. Gotta also try to trade Abreu for a right handed hitting outfielder. Probably will have to include 1 or 2 minor league pitchers plus cash to get this done. And finally, release Myers, trade Farnsworth, bring back Henn, and let Henn/Bruney share 8th inning set up duties, like Stanton/Nelson did a while ago. Procter and Villone can handle 6th, 7th inning duties. This will fix all of the Yankees problems, I guarantee it!

FORK:

You are mistaken about the results of steroid abuse. Steroid injections are used by the medical profession for healing purposes but in very small doses and for very short periods of time. When athletes use steroids to build strength, they use excessive amounts in order to achieve desired results, and when their body stops responding to that amount, the abusive athlete must increase their dosage in order to get results. Consequently, the athlete's body will increase in size which may result in its destruction by overuse. Athletes who are known steroid abusers are huge, as they appear to blow up with increased use of this foreign substance.

Your feelings about the Yankees being abusers carry no weight, no proof, no logical circumstances to make the connection, other than your apparent prejudices. Mariano is a lot thinner in person than he appears on TV. He is far from a typical looking steroid abuser. Watch your accusations, though, as you may find yourself being hit with a lawsuit by athletes who take this sort of thing seriously (it can be detrimental to their careers). You can't put serious allegations like that in writing, especially those you can't support.
