I don't hang this loss on Proctor's shoulders at all and think you're being foolish for doing so. He was pitching in his 3rd inning of relief this game. I think Joe should of brought someone else in rather then pushing Proctor a third inning, but however the blame has to lie on the offense aside from A-Rod. We have to produce more then 5 runs with the 17 hits we put on the Giants. 17 HITS! We had a chance with men on 2nd and 3rd with one out and couldn't get the run home! Other then A-Rod this team failed to score runs and scattered !7 HITS and only produced 5 runs! Asking Proctor to go a third inning was pushing it and even then he really didn't get hit hard. If Melky is playing a little further in that becomes an out and we're praising Proctor for giving us three solid innings. Let's not get too harsh here, Proctor gave us more then I'm sure any of us expected.

There is no way we will make the playoffs with this present lineup. When you have Thompson, Cairo, and Phillips up in key spots in a extra inning game, what do we think is going to happen. We have no beanch, we have a leadoff guy hitting 249. and a guy in the 3 spot hitting 250. To me this so called great lineup has proven just to be sub par

Last year was a fluke for Robinson Cano. Cano is a guy with a very good swing but that's all he has. He has a terrible eye, he has no patience and he has no power. I've been saying this all year that Cano is overrated and he's proving it as the season goes along. Cano is a decent hitter but you put runners in scoring position or load the bases and he becomes a worse hitter than Will Nieves. You have guys on the bench who are much better in the clutch than Cano.No plate discipline whatsoever and seems effortless on some swings. He needs to improve on his effort and passion for the game, because I don't see it in him at all.

Cano is awful with RISP and bases loaded situation.Cano's chokes everytime. I'd have more faith in anyone coming off the bench in a situation like that other than Cano. He becomes a total different hitter when the pressure's on. Melky Cabrera is a younger and less experienced player than Cano and he's a much better hitter with RISP than Cano is even though Cano is a better hitter than him. It's all about nerves and that's why Cano is overrated.

Cano needs to improve hitting Risp and bases loaded.

Robbie is hitting a blistering .115 {3-26} with 2 outs and RISP this year {last time I looked.} He's hitting about .206 lifetime with the bases loaded, but everyone still says he's "great, unbelievable, sweetest swing since Rod Carew" etc. etc. I guess if people say it enough times it must be true. We should never let the reality of the above statistics get in the way of what sounds good on a tv show..........................All Yankees are great. The thing is that their record is 36-36 so I'd have to deduce from a mathematical perspective that someone isn't great. Right? Cause if they were all great then they would have a better record than 36-36. Right?.........................It doesn't bother Robbie too much though. I am ready to see Cano on the trading block. He showed rookie promise but has shown no signs of developing beyond that.

Rookie promise is good for a year. After that the ex-rookie has to be either bright enough or coachable enough to learn and grow into a capacity to consistently meet the demands of playing on this level.

Diane, not sticking up for Cano, but this is his third year. And this whole Babe Ruth possibly being black is just another ridiculous conspiracy theory with no real proof. But we always have to have conspiracy theorists, don't we?

While I am, for the most part, a Cashman supporter (I love that he is places great emphasis on rebuilding our farm system), I think he deserves a lot of blame for what's going on.

Thanks for the correction, sorry I got it wrong about Cano's tenure on the big club. But it makes his lack of progress even more regrettable. He has talent but at this stage in his career I think he should show signs of turning that talent to more consistent use.

As for the speculation about Ruth's ethnicity, I don't see it as a conspiracy theory. I have speculated myself, just on the basis of his appearance in photographs. I feel comfortable sharing my questions with other regulars on this blog because most of us can handle speculation without getting terribly worked up. Probably the other reason I don't mind speculation in this case is because I don't see that it makes him either better or worse regardless what mix he might or might not have been. I learned in my undergraduate 'population statistics' course a long time ago that nearly everybody whose family has been in this country for a few generations has a very mixed genetic background whether they know it or not! I wouldn't mind for myself what that an analysis of my genes might show, and I certainly wouldn't mind for someone else who is long past caring.

Cano play was questioned by Announcers who said he should have been on the Upside and it;s not.

I remember a poster on here stating that cano's sucess came due to rentering the season (last season) right in the middle of things and succeeding because his scouting report was not in full blossom due to his early season injury. who in their right mind would have thought he was such a free swinger?

I admit I've been hard on Cano but I would never trade him unless it was an offer the Yanks couldn't refuse.I think he tends to press w/ runners on base.I would not give up on him yet.He's 24 yrs old.Is on pace to have about 45 doubles and his average is slowly climbing each day.He needs to learn patience.I'm sure we'll see a gradual improvement in his development.

Wang was at 86 pitches. He gave up a home run and then a base hit so he was taken out of the game. I find Wang often gives up back to back hits, but then regains composure and is fantastic at getting out of jams. It's not unlike him to load the bases with 0 outs, yet leave the inning scoreless. I feel he was taken out too soon.

The play that really incurred my ire was when Abreu badly bunted with a man on first, resulting in the loss of our lead runner. If he had gotten a hit or a productive out which advanced the runner, we would have won the game since A-Rod came up next and got himself a solid stand-up double. If you can't bunt, don't. Abreu is capable of getting a hit, while the man at first could have tried stealing second. Nothing irks me more than a bad bunt by a power hitter.

as for ruth last I read he was from an orphange and did not have direct black parents but was rumored to be of such ancestry. It was very common for many whites who had black genes to eliminate such record why? because it was taboo.

I'm back and I just googled Ruth. He was one of eight children, only two of whom survived, and his parents voluntarily gave him up at the age of seven supposedly because he was badly behaved. He learned baseball in this institution and when he was hired by the O's at 19 Dunn had to adopt him to get him out (in those days he would not reach his majority until age 21). So he was jokingly called Dunn's 'baby', and that was where the nickname was said to come from.

On the Cano debate of whether to trade him, I say "deal" him. The only legit reason not to, is that if we lose A-OPT, Cano would possibly switch to 3rd base. Problem is, this is a $200 million dollar team, that is playing to win this year. That is why the Yanks gave Clemens all that "dough". I will give Cano credit for having improved his defense. He does an excellent job of "turning" the double play, has a very good arm and range, and works well with Jeter. Despite that, the $200 million dollars trumps Cano and "08". As for "The Bambino". Black or White, or combination thereof, he is the greatest player of all time, and a Yankee. That's all that matters.

I'm as disappointed as the rest of you guys over the play of Yankees on this road trip. But we're fans and will come back for more.

There have been some interesting questions raised which I would love to make a comment or two. Cano should not be traded. I'm frustrated with his plate discipline. He is horrible with RISP but the upside is his abilty to hit for average with some pop. He's 24 yrs. old and not near maturity as a big leaguer. His defense has improved greatly from the first year. Remember Soriano's defense never got better. And HR's do not make up for errors for the most part just start or keep rallies going and wear out pitchers. I believe the club is aware of his short comings as we are. He's a work in progress, patience necesary for realization of the project. Meyers should be traded or released. Let Henn have his spot. How much more evidence is needed? How much worse can Henn do? Damon on the DL. Use Farnsworth for trade bait for whatever we need.

Abreu is not a number 3 hitter in the Al East. Any number 3 hitter who bunts should be removed from the spot unless the winning run is on third base in the 7th game of the WS . That spot in the lineup is reserved for the best hitter on the team. He does not hit lefties. If, this team continues to play mediocre baseball .500. It might be to our advantage to sell off some of our parts while eating a part of their contracts in return for bodies of worth. Who do I recommend? Abreu, Farnsworth, Damon and Villone are good starting points.

I have not given up but prefer to get younger with the same results as the older team can provide.

I am younger than 45. I grew up in the liberal northeast. I believe inherently in the goodness of people. I just can't stand individuals who want to put race into every fabric of our lives. Bonds will never admit that his not liked because of HIS behavior. It has nothing to do with racism. He tries to play the card all the time. When people like BB defend him it irates me to no end. When Bonds attacks a symbol of the game and America culture he is doing it for a reason. He has every right to slander Ruth. It's a free country. But we also have the right to defend him and point out the greatness of the man. Institutions in America are under attack here. Ruth is a small example of this. I heard all the same stuff growing up. We vilify ex and we glorify y. Why because our leaders say so. Let's remember one thing.
