Clemens scratched again

Roger Clemens was scratched from tonight's start. A lot of people were skeptical he would pitch tonight to begin with (hamstring). Kei Igawa will be the Yankees' starter

Kat,
You mean Kei Ughawa is starting tonight. I think he should officially change his name. Looks like a long night for the bullpen too. Let's see if I can play HYD and predict Ughawa's line:

4.1 IP/6 BB/5 SO/PC=102

I'm actually glad the old geezer is getting some rest, he's not like Moose, he can rest and come out sharp whereas Moose needs his schedule and everything to be just so before he's comfy.

The rest will pay-off well for Clemens here. There was no way possible they were going to let him start, especially if he is the planned Game 3 Starter. Look for him to pitch 4-5 innings on Sunday to get him lined up.

Jim A hole playing HYD and predicting the above.Folks call your bookie and send it in on the Yanks. This empty head couldn't predict water is wet.
Hey lard ass go play with your yo-yo.

With all these extra guys around, the best we can do is Igawa? It looks like a lost night tonight. Joe, clinch first then do what you have to do.

Reason for Igawa and Not DeSalvo:

Igawa might be on the postseason roster. DeSalvo definitely will not. Two reasons for why Igawa might be on the roster:
1. He's a lefty and is definitely a better option than Henn and may be a better option than Villone (I could write an entire article on my Igawa in the pen. In fact, I wrote a lengthy email to one of my friends today in response to a question he asked about Igawa.)
2. Assume there is a blowout, the Yanks need a mop-up man. Would you rather waste 3 or 4 otherwise solid bullpen arms or Igawa? The counter arguement is "what about Hughes?". I get it, I do, but consider that Clemens and Mussina are both old and are not definitely going to be able to start. If that's the case, Hughes is the starter (ESPECIALLY if Kennedy is shut down). If Hughes has to start, who mops up?

Regarding Clemens:

I'm not concerned that he's not starting tonight. It's for the better. I don't know why the Yankees are playing games with slating him as the starter and than scratching him. He's clearly not pitching until the weekend so that he'll be ready for game 3 of the playoffs on normal or close to normal rest.

Hope everyone enjoyed the pics. I have a better link if you're interested.

My boy EJ Fagan has promised a nice article on Tabata tonight, so I'm excited and will post the link tomorrow.

Can we assign numbers to the anonymi (is that how you would pluralize the word anonymous? Anonymouses doesn't seem right nor does Anonymice )?

HYD,

Anonymous has a new name now. He/she/It is called "BEE-YATCH"

This little queer is attacking everyone now.

What can i say? It's a BEEEEEYYYAAATTTTCCCHHHHH!!!

HYD: I like the argument for having Igawa on the roster. What's he look like early in games? I can't remember if he has trouble early like Hughes or comes apart late like a few others.

Igawa implodes in the later innings, usually.

However, he's been known to "blow up" early on also.

See the Friday night game in May against the Mariners.

The Yanks got 5 in the first and Igawa proceeded to give it all back and then some by the 5th.

He also $ucked against the D-Rays when the Yanks got swept down there in May.

Hey, maybe the common denominator here is the month of May.

Since it's NOT May, he's throwing a shutout tonight.

And the winning numbers in the NY State lottery are....

LITTLE QUEER-Sully would call that HOMOPHOBIA and to think you reside in the gay capital.

BBBBEEEEYYYYYAAAAATTTTTCCCCCHHHHHHH!
{SMACK}{SMACK}

To my friend Anon- from Webster's dictionary:
Queer:
Main Entry: 1queer
Pronunciation: 'kwir
Function: adjective
differing in some odd way from what is usual or normal

It doesn't say anything about gay folks does it?

Guys, Anon is not worth responding to. He has nothing of substance to add to this board, just tired witless insults. Move on.

Igawa in April:
5 Starts
1st Inning 1 Earned run - ERA 1.80
2nd Inning 8 Earned runs - ERA 9.60
3rd Inning 2 Earned Runs - ERA 3.60
4th Inning 4 Earned Runs - ERA 7.20
5th Inning 3 Earned Runs - ERA 8.10 Note he only pitched 1/3 of an inning in two of these appearances
6th Inning 0 Earned Runs - Note he only got to the 6th twice

His success in the first would indicate he could handle relief.

Now, I'm disregarding May (only one start) and June (two starts and his best Month with an ERA of 4.91).

Onto July in which he had 4 starts.
1st inning 3 earned runs - ERA 6.75
2nd inning 5 earned runs - ERA 11.25
3rd inning 2 earned runs - ERA 4.50
4th inning 3 earned runs - ERA 6.75
5th inning 1 earned run - ERA 2.25
6th inning 1 earned run - ERA 13.50 Note he only pitched 2/3 of an inning

First inning stats this time are not as promising.

Yanks are 8 - 5 in the 13 games that Igawa has pitched in. That's a .615 clip. How would we have been better off with Lily? Granted, Lily is 15 - 7 (.682 clip), but his team is 19 - 13 in games he's pitched in (.594 clip).

Last time against Tampa in July - 5 innings, 2 earned runs.

HYD,
Thanks for the data. As usual, very informative. Alhough, I do remember a day when Igawa was lights out, in Beantown against our arch enemy. He might surprise some people this evening. I am predicting, as stated earlier, 6 innings - 8 K's/3 walks, no earned runs. Yanks clinch playoff spot, 8 - 0 . Besides, it does not pay to hold conversations with Nonsense, Anemone, Anullment, whatever the name....

Annoying and Marianne are the same person. And Cas Ob is a female (or is back in rehab)like most Bosox fans. Tha Nation is shakin' in their boots! Gonna catch ya.....here we come!

We're shaking in our boots?
OK, if that's what you need to get through the day

HYD,

Love 'anonymi'.

I think of the two as:

Anonymous the Greater (the one who makes sense, even if one does not always agree), and

Anonymous the Lesser (the one who reads just like one of our least rational named posters),

but, if you like to call them 1 and 2, I'll go along with your choice.

Jim A-Hole right on the money again....Igawa 5 innings pitched 0Runs-2Hits.Right on lard ass.Now define queer again so John G-string doesn't get in trouble with his rest room friends at the cracker factory.
Michael Z-ooerastea you are one pathetic lunatic.Think it's time for another mental health screening?
Marianne charter member of FATT [fat ass trailer trash] Do you take two laps around the trailer park before or after your four hour breakfast? I'll bet your choice is the whole right side of the menu.
John G-string the joke is on you stump hound.Woof-Woof.Your going to have to find another remedy for your chappedd lips.

Anonymous has to be a Sox or Mets fan. That's why he's so angry towards these great Yankees fans. This person is mentally ill and holds a huge grudge against the Yankees.

Jim A is one of the nicest bloggers here. Very intelligent and always respectful. I can't imagine why this Anonymous Coward would single him out for attack except that he's a jealous, frustrated Mets or Sox fan.

Michael PTRS is always fun and amusing, and he's one of the best bloggers here (a great Yankees fan). Yankee fans on this site enjoy his posts.

Anonymous, I'm coming to take you away with a butterfly net to make sure you get help for your deranged illness.

not that I totally disagree with your post...but tell me why any Sox fan would be jealous or frustrated at this point in time?

I am a Sox fan...I am not jealous or frustrated. I have been in the past...and may be again in the future...but if it got to the point where I was posting idiotic, slur-filled, hate mongering, moronic post like the knuckledragger you are discribing....I'd take up another hobby. Baseball should make people happy, over-all, not bitter, small minded, hateful, and just plain offensive.

Some people seem to find some measure of personal gain by trying to bring others down to their level.....pity them, but on here, I've had my fill of that crap, and choose to ignore them, for the most part.

You shouldn't take every RS post personally, Casob. Just because you are not frustrated or jealous doesn't mean other RS fans aren't. You must notice they come here everyday with tons of BS and those are the morons targeted in these angry posts...Not you if you're not writing them
