It's scoreless in the Bronx through four innings. The Yankees have two hits off Roy Halladay, and the Blue Jays have three off Chien-Ming Wang. Each team has an error. No runs, though.
As for the playoff competitors: the Tigers are losing 4-0 in the 5th inning to K.C. Boston's up 3-1 in the 3rd over the Devil Rays.
Also, forgot to mention, Humberto Sanchez is spending the weekend in New York and will be with the team. He's throwing lightly, and has been for about seven weeks. He underwent elbow ligament transplant "Tommy John" surgery April 17th. Sanchez will spend most of the winter rehabbing in Tampa, aside from a Nov. break to get married and take a honeymoon. He hopes to be ready for spring training.

Since Kat mentioned Sanchez being with the team, I'll post this:
From the NY Times:
The Class AA Trenton Thunder won its first Eastern League championship on Saturday in Akron with a 10-5 victory in Game 4 of its best-of-five series. The Thunder will send five pitchers to the Yankees, with two ā Tyler Clippard and Chase Wright ā joining the active roster. The other three, who will be around before games during the homestand to get used to the major league environment, are Alan Horne, Jeff Marquez and Daniel McCutchen.
From EJ Fagan:
Being an empirically-oriented person, I always wonder how these short call ups affect young players. The Yankees have now brought up their top young prospects for three straight years. Interestingly, Iām pretty sure that for all three years, the Yankees have only brought up pitchers.
By the way, this is where I read what EJ Fagan writes:

He has the best Yanks minor league info. I think you all know by now that I LOVE the minors.
Aaron Hill vs. Chien-Ming Wang: With Vernon Wells shut down for the season, Hill assumes the role of most dangerous Blue Jay to Wang. Hill hits .545 and slugs a beefy .909 off of Wang. That ugly little troll Matt Stairs has also had success off of Wang (4-8, all doubles) in limited at-bats.
Anyone else "surprised" he's 3 for 3? Right. Just Michael Kay.
Wang should not pitch into the 7th...it's almost always bad (batters bat over .300 against him after the 7th).
HYD,
I didn't know Hill's numbers against Wang.
I'm getting a little concerned that we can't seem to get anything going offensively. I also don't like the fact that if Wang comes out of the game, it may be Bruney or Villone coming in. I can see Toronto's eyes lighting up from here in Phoenix.
Boston's up 3-1 in the bottom of the 4th.
Tigers are losing 4-3 in the bottom of the 5th, 2 men on.
I knew he shouldn't pitch the 7th...
Oh well. At least we have the wildcard, right?
What the Tigers came back and are winning?
What we're down 4-0?
Sox Sweep
Blue Jays sweep!
Tigers sweep!
Hey let's make things interesting, right?
Sox up by 4 or 5 by Tuesday morning.
It was fun dreaming for a day though, wasn't it? right?
The Giambinooooooooo!!
Stttrrriiikkkeee 3!!!!!!
Gloom: It's about time you came out from the outhouse with Cas Obs. You two spend way too much time together.
What slump? RBI 143 for ARod = CAREER HIGH!!!
That's the kind of play Giambi would make at first...
Now why don't you eat crow gloom...and gag on it!
It's the Yom Kippur Miracle in the Bronx!!!
What's not to love about this team...:)
im the strangest non-jew ever with a last name like goldberg...
So for a Yom Kippur miracle you'll convert.
The Great Mariano Rivera = not toast.
I'll convert, sure...if you'll make me matzah ball soup and matzah bri <sp? Deal Marianne?
I actually love many Jewish delicacies, etc.
Who is due up for the Yanks in the bottom half of the inning?
HYD, if I knew how to make them I would do it!
Pop quiz for everybody:
How do you know the Yankees are not out a game?
Correct answer:
You check whether they have any AB's left.
Wow...I walk out of the house for a minute (tweaking the motorcycle a little) and I come back and we're tied. I think I better go back out to the garage!
Somebody chain Jim A. in his garage until Halloween.
Wow Jim, Marianne wants to chain you up...
My apologies, i just had to...
So Marianne, have you got a daughter to set me up with?
Shitty...we cannot lose this game; not after using our 3 best bullpen guys (Mo, Joba, Viz) and a 1A starter...
Damn pathetic display by our offense to this point. Outside of the 9th inning, we haven't scored in, what, 13 innings?
Oh Hughs your daddy,
I'd like a little pie with that crow if I could. Maybe with some whip cream and a cherry on top to celebrate!
Thank you Brian Bruney...may I have another?
Angry Blue Jays on "their" way to their World Series Sweep!!!!!!!
Gett'in even with the Bush-league'in Yankees!!!!!
Lost a game in the wildcard, lost a game in the standings...like you even had a chance at that!
Nighty night Hughes your daddy-OOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Better go get some sleepy. Your next loss begins at 1pm!!!! YIKES!!!!!!!!
Magic number: 7 ......and counting down!!!!!!
Awful loss.
Damn you Bruney. You and Henn need to get off this team.
Where did all the happy people go after you all chippered up after that would be, should be 3rd out in the 9th?
Marianne, I love everything about this team!!! What a bunch of winners tonight!!!!!!!
Hey when Blue-Lips leaves next year maybe Barry B can come in and replace him now that SF dumped him for 2008. You know A-Rod is out of there as soon as you get bounced in the first round. (if you even make it with the Tigers scratch'in at your heels!!! Look out! Here they come!!!!! Sweep'in in KC while you get swept by TBJ!
Oh my God no ... not Joe Kennedy!
See, I said we should have gotten him ... and now look ... he helped ruin our extra inning game ...
I feel asleep before it was over, woke up to drink some soda water and checked the score.
Damn that Joe Kennedy!
Hey Where,
I faded out of the discussion after it got late, but my eyes were still on the set and I have to tell you I love the battling Yankees who won't just go down quietly.
Ramirez and Bruney failed to do their jobs. But I won't say the struggles of the offense against the excellent Halladay were unexpected or a sign of anything dire.
A-Rod Replacement,
I think we can say with confidence that the Yankees will not sink to the level of allowing Barry Bonds into the pinstripes. They may have held their noses a few times, but never for anything that smells that ripe.
I predict Bonds will be a Met
Wow , lose a game and the Sux fans crawl out of their hole to taunt the Yanks! Not all mind you , but the less knowledgeable ones.
I guess they don't realise that the Yanks own them this year. Had it not been for extremely unfortanute injuries , they would be in second place by quite a bit.
See ya in October! Go Yanks!
