Big schism in A-Rod/Boras camp

Alex Rodriguez's resigning (10-years, $275 million plus $30 million in incentives) was made official this morning. Very interesting comments by Alex on the way the whole thing went down. It sounds as if Scott Boras made him believe the Yankees didn't want to resign him.

Anyway, here are some excerpts from my story which is on Newsday.com:
Alex Rodriguez said this morning in a conference call announcing his 10-year, $275-million contract to return to the Yankees that he wished he had simply bypassed agent Scott Boras and negotiated with Hank Steinbrenner himself.
“If I had to do it again, I would have called Hank and done the negotiating myself,” Rodriguez said.
Rodriguez opted out of the final three years of his 10-year, $252-million contract, a decision that became public during Game 4 of the World Series. He said this morning that that was a huge mistake. All along, he wanted to remain a Yankee, he said, but he was given information by Boras that led him to think the Yankees were not interested in resigning him. Rodriguez’s resigning was officially announced today.
“I opted out simply because, let me preface it by saying it was a mistake,” Rodriguez said. “I was pretty sure based on the information that I was getting was that the Yankees were not interested in my services. … As far as the World Series, that was handled very poorly. My understanding was the letter would not go public until a day or two after the World Series was over. The timing was distasteful and very inappropriate. The whole thing was a mistake, it was a huge debacle.”
Rodriguez and Boras were skewered by the public and the media alike for the timing of the optout. Weeks later, word got out that Rodriguez was negotiating with the Yankees – without the help of Boras – to arrange his return.
Steinbrenner, the son of longtime owner George Steinbrenner and a Yankees senior vice-president, had vowed that the Yankees would not negotiate with Rodriguez if he opted out. The reason was that the Yankees would lose the subsidy the Rangers – who originally gave Rodriguez the $252-million contract – were paying. But Rodriguez called Steinbrenner directly, he says, “shortly after” the optout, and the two sides eventually reached agreement on a contract.
Rodriguez said he made a mistake in taking verbatim what Boras told him. Boras has represented him since before he was drafted. Though Rodriguez did not fire Boras, the relationship has clearly been altered.
“I was very angry about the whole situation, I was very upset, and I voiced that to him the one time I talked to him,” Rodriguez said.

Giving A-Rod home run based incentive bonuses is an AWFUL decision.

Every Major Leaguer will tell you that it's harder to hit a home run when you're trying. We all know old fragile A-Rod isn't the best with handling pressure (look at the playoffs) but with $24 million DOLLARS riding on hitting home runs?!?!

By the time he approaches Mays, Moneybags Rodriguez will be drooling over the money and lose complete focus on the season.

I know that the HR Chase/Crown would mean HUGE dollars for the franchise, that's why they did it, but isn't anyone else seeing a trend of less-baseball sense and more business sense in the moves we've been making since....oh....2001?

BTW, in case you haven't heard, Clemens and Pettitte are rumored to be on the steroid report. I don't know if Andy will get suspended or not.

Sources: Mitchell Report to name MVPs, All-Stars, won't address amphetamines

NEW YORK (AP) -- Seven-time Cy Young Award winner Roger Clemens and Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte were the first names to emerge Thursday from the Mitchell report.

ESPN.com reported Brian McNamee, a former trainer for the Yankees and Clemens, told investigators he supplied Clemens and Pettitte with steroids and that information is in the report. The Web site cited an unidentifried source close to the trainer.

"After we read the report, we will have something to say," said Randy Hendricks, the agent for Clemens and Pettitte.

The Los Angeles Times reported in 2006 that Clemens and Pettitte were among the players former major league pitcher Jason Grimsley accused of using performance-enhancing drugs, according to a federal agent's affidavit. Clemens and Pettitte have denied the allegations. On Wednesday, Pettitte said "I've not heard a word from anyone" about former Senate Majority Leader George Mitchell's investigation.

Citing two lawyers familiar with the investigation, The New York Times reported McNamee also provided information about retired first baseman David Segui. On Monday, Segui admitted he used steroids and purchased shipments from former New York Mets clubhouse attendant Kirk Radomski.

Mitchell's report exposes a "serious drug culture within baseball, from top to bottom," fingers MVPs and All-Stars and calls for beefed-up testing by an outside agency to clean up the game.

The report by Mitchell will include names of 60 to 80 players linked to performance-enhancing substances and plenty more information that exposes "deep problems" afflicting the sport, one of two sources with knowledge of the findings told the AP. Both sources said the report would not address amphetamines.

The two sources were familiar with discussions that led to the final draft but did not want to be identified because it was confidential until its scheduled release. They said the full report, which they had not read, totaled 304 pages plus exhibits.

One person familiar with the final version would only speak anonymously but described it as "a very thorough treatment of the subject" and said some aspects were surprising. He said the report assigns blame to both the commissioner's office and the players' union.

MLB's "not going to love it, the union's not going to love it," he said.

In an e-mail sent to agents Thursday, the union said it would get a copy of the report at 1 p.m. "based on our pledge not to disclose its contents before 2 p.m."

"We suggest that, for today at least, you decline general comment on the report and respond only on behalf of a particular player named in the report," the union told the agents.

One source said that while the report will cite problems "top to bottom," it also will expose "deep problems, the number of players, high-level MVPs and All-Stars," as well as clubhouse personnel who allowed steroids and other banned substances in clubhouses or knew about it and didn't say anything.

The rest of the report, the sources said, focuses on recommendations that include enhanced year-round testing and hiring a drug-testing company that uses the highest standards of independence and transparency. Baseball's program currently is overseen by a joint management-union Health Policy Advisory Committee, with an independent administrator approved by both sides.

Mitchell, a Boston Red Sox director, planned to release his report at 2 p.m. Thursday during a news conference in New York City. Baseball commissioner Bud Selig was to hold his own news conference a few blocks away 2 1/2 hours later.

The report comes at the end of a year when San Francisco Giants outfielder Barry Bonds broke the career home run record, only to be indicted 100 days later on charges of lying to a federal grand jury about steroid use.

It also was expected to recommend that baseball develop a credible program to handle cases with evidence of athletes receiving or taking drugs but not testing positive for them.

Just last week, Kansas City's Jose Guillen and Baltimore's Jay Gibbons were suspended for the first 15 days of next season, and media reports said they had obtained human growth hormone in 2005, after baseball banned it.

Much of the first part of the report will be based on evidence obtained from Radomski, and from information gleaned from the Albany district attorney's investigation into illegal drug distribution that focused on Signature Pharmacy of Orlando, Fla., the sources said.

Radomski was required to cooperate with the investigation as a condition of his federal plea agreement last April. Radomski pleaded guilty to illegally distributing steroids, HGH, amphetamines and other drugs to players and is awaiting sentencing. Some professional athletes have been linked to the Signature probe, though none have been charged.

On Thursday morning at Radomski's Long Island, N.Y.-based business, Pro Touch Detail Center, a man who identified himself as Radomski told The Associated Press: "I have no comment. Talk to my lawyer. This is private property. Please leave."

Rob Manfred, baseball's executive vice president of labor relations, reviewed at least part of the report this week to ensure no confidential information from the drug-testing program was disclosed, a person with knowledge of the union's discussion with Mitchell said, also on condition of anonymity.

Despite repeated requests by the players' association to Mitchell's law firm, the union had not been allowed to review the report, that person said.

"I certainly hope after 21 months and getting zip by way of cooperation from the players' association that they'll come up with some recommendations for improvement," said World Anti-Doping Agency chairman Dick Pound. "If not, it's a complete waste of time."

But he said he's not sure baseball would follow any recommendations.

"My guess is that the management side probably would, but the players' association will dig in and continue its steel-town union approach to life," he said.

Agents have said they expect the report to be highly critical of players and the union for largely refusing to cooperate with Mitchell.

Bob DuPuy, baseball's chief operating officer, sent an e-mail to owners and team presidents in advance of the report with instructions how to respond to media inquiries.

"We look forward to carefully reading the results of Sen. Mitchell's investigation," the recommended response said. "Protecting the integrity of our game is vital, and we intend to study his findings and recommendations, and will not comment until we have done so."

Baseball did not have an agreement to ban steroids until September 2002, did not have testing with penalties until 2004 and did not ban HGH until 2005, when it also instituted a suspension for a first positive test.

Mitchell was hired by Selig in March 2006 after the publication of "Game of Shadows," a book by two San Francisco Chronicle reporters about Bonds' alleged steroid use. The rise in power in the 1990s, which drew national attention when Mark McGwire and Sammy Sosa chased Roger Maris' single-season record in the Great Home Run Race of 1998, was accompanied by a rise in suspicion.

Maris' record of 61 homers had stood since 1961, but McGwire hit 70 that year and Sosa had 66. During the chase, the AP reported McGwire had used androstenedione, a supplement then available over the counter that produced testosterone.

A bulked-up Bonds then shattered McGwire's record by hitting 73 homers in 2001.

AP Sports Writers Eddie Pells in Denver and John Nadel in Los Angeles, AP Sports Columnist Jim Litke in Chicago and Associated Press Writer Frank Eltman on Long Island contributed to this report.

What do you think of your beloved "True Yankee" now?

NEW YORK -- WNBC.com's Jonathan Dienst has obtained names expected to be on George Mitchell's list of baseball players linked to performance-enhancing drugs in major league baseball. Baseball officials are refuting several names on the list.

A high-ranking MLB official said there are several errors in the list provided to WNBC.com by two sources. Our two sources are standing by the preliminary list provided to WNBC.com.

Arod has only spoken to his agent, Scott Boras, once during the opt-out situation. Sounds like Boras is an agent who is in complete control and the players feelings are just static in any conversation with him. Shame on the players for entrusting Boras with so much leverage.

Pettite is a big fake like all of the other players. There won't be any Red Sox on the list. Hahah The Sox Rule!

Sorry for the double post. This new format or system does not function well with my head or computer.

Pettite is a steroid head.......oh but how can that be? Isn't he a man of integrity? You were all sucked in. He is a loser like the rest. Don't ever belive any of them.

snow storm here in upstate ny - but i cant wait for the firestorm with the mitchell report. what yanks will be named? already we have heard of pett and clemens, but how about yanks of old and present? going to be interesting, to say the least.

I'm not going to say that Mitchell was biased while compiling this report and neither should any of you. First off, he worked for Selig and MLB while conducting the investigation and not Boston. Second, there are Boston players (past and present) on the list, if this is indeed THE list. What does bother me is the fact that he is connected with Boston and that fact alone will make it seem like he's biased, whether true or not. The assumption will be there nontheless.

The only thing that Ortiz is guilty of to me at least, is that he eats too many Big Macs. He got bigger alright, in the midsection. I don't believe that he's a juicer. He's spent a lot of time on the DL in the past few seasons and he's played in pain.

Hey anon- blow it out your arse. I could care less that Andy is on the report. Do you care that Mr Red Sox himself, your beloved captain is on the report? Along with other "true" Sox like Normaaaaa and C*ck Nixson. This all means nothing, if anything the Sox look worse than the Yanks here so go buy a case of WInter Brew and wack off to Fever Pitch.

I just love that your beloved, mister I can't do anything wrong, true Yankee is on the list. It just goes to show that you can't trust anybody. Boo Hoo....Whaaaaaaaaa! Hahahahahaha

IS A-ROD ON IT OR NOT?

WAS THAT LIST REAL?

Brady Anderson, Manny Alexander, Rick Ankiel, Jeff Bagwell, Bar ry Bonds, Aaron Boone, Rafaeil Bettancourt, Bret Boone, Milton B radley, David Bell, Dante Bichette, Albert Belle, Paul Byrd, Wil Cordero, Ken Caminiti, Mike Cameron, Ramon Castro, Jose and Ozz ie Canseco, Roger Clemens, Paxton Crawford, Wilson Delgado, Lenn y Dykstra, Johnny Damon, Carl Everett, Kyle Farnsoworth, Ryan Fr anklin, Troy Glaus, Rich Garces, Jason Grimsley, Troy Glaus, Jua n Gonzalez, Eric Gagne, Nomar Garciaparra, Jason Giambi, Jeremy Giambi, jackkindregan (9:54:45 AM) : Jose Guillen, Jay Gibbons, Juan Gon zalez, Clay Hensley, Jerry Hairston, Felix Heredia, Jr., Darren Holmes, Wally Joyner, Darryl Kile, Matt Lawton, Raul Mondesi, Ma rk McGwire, Guillermo Mota, Robert Machado, Damian Moss, Abraham Nunez, Trot Nixon, Jose Offerman, Andy Pettitte, Mark Prior, Neifi Perez, Rafael Palmiero, Albert Pujols, Brian Roberts,Juan Rincon, John Rocker, Pudge Rodriguez, Sammy Sosa, Scott Schoenweiis, David Segui, Alex Sanchez, Gary Sheffield, Miguel Tejada, Julian Tavarez,Fernando Tatis, Maurice Vaughn, Jason Varitek, Ismael Valdez, Matt Williams and Kerry Wood

Aaron Boone is on there!
Hey, Giambi homered twice and Boone homered in game 7, 2003.

Does that mean we can claim the 2003 American League championship?

(Then again, we got a homer from Trot Nixon)

In the end the result will be people will shrug, defend their players and show up to watch their teams next year

The person who wins?
Barry Lamar Bonds

If Saint Roger Clemens has his name dragged in along with about every other star, then why not the best hitter of the era

Where did you get that llist?

Anon - I could care less about the report. I posted on this topic today and yesterday, I dont care if the entire Yankee roster past and present was on the list, the list is a bunch of BS in the 1st place. Read the previous threads and you'll see how much I care about this report. I dont care if the entire Red Sox lineup was on it either. Doesnt make a difference to me, and I sure as sh!t wouldnt go to a Sox blog to try and stir the pot. Now run along.

THIS SUCKS I WILL NEVER WATCH ANOTHER GAME UNTIL CHOKE-ROD LEAVES. HE IS A CANCER AND THE YANKEES WILL NEVER WIN WITH HIM!!!!!!!! I SO WISHED HE WAS NAMED BUT HE WASN"T. HE IS SUCH A PHONY< HE ALWAYS WANTED TO STAY A YANKEE BULL !@#$ !!!!!!!!
Baby Steinbrenner bid against himself. He wanted to show dady that he can get the big negotiations done but all he did was overpay for that LOSER!!!!!!!! They should have let him go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah; it took a lot of power to take Wakefield deep. Thank God for those roids.

Man, the two worst relievers in recent Yankee history are on the list

Heredia and Farnsworth

DON'T DO DRUGS KIDS!
You could suck like these two sh-- bags

I don't see a Jeter/Rivera/Posada/A-Rodriguez

If that's the list I'm cool.

It's kinda funny though I must admit.

I just saw Brian Roberts up there.

One of the few players I got to watch by default by watching 150 games. He impressed me quite a bit. I always get a select few each year...5 players or so who I fear as a Yanks fan he was one.

For the life of me I would never have expected him to be on the stuff.

Weird.

Like Diane said there's probably a lot of missing names and the list is most likely incomplete.

For now however I'm not bothered at all.

I just hope Andy isn't still on the stuff I wouldn't want him to suddenly take a dive in his performance because he's been outed on some list and now feels compelled to quit.

I know I'm a total hypocrite.

Truth be told I don't care about steroids.

John G... I know you know this because you are a sharp dude.
But everyone else knows my claiming the 2003 pennant was a joke, right?

They should have used coke instead of roids.

That way, they'd get at least 7 second chances.

Hey Pastore you're talking about the THE FUTURE HOMERUN KING (CLEAN!!!)

SHOW SOME RESPECT

I'll not tolerate such blasphemous outbursts!!

HAH

Of course Sully :-)

I was just trying to lighten the mood a wee bit.

Now maybe its just me.... but do you see any current redsox on there? One thing that is interesting is a bunch of the pitchers listed there have gotten hurt could have to do with the tendon damage that steroids causes. [Gagne, Wood, Prior].....

OH I SOO LOVE THAT A-ROD IS NOT ON THE LIST

PRO AROD CAMP

REJOICE!!!

ANTI-RODS

HE'S GONNA BE HERE A WHILE

Michael Pastore - Way off base there pal. You better get used to A-rod, he'll be on the team until 2017! If not there's plenty of room in Shea.

Drew

Can we really hold against Kerry Wood and Mark Prior?

They're a couple of porcelain dolls.

If anything they need more steroids.

Drew,

Veritek is on the list.

I know that McGuire took this stuff because he was always hurt and missed significant playing time. The year that he broke Maris' record, he wasn't on the DL once, I believe.

If one reason that these guys take this crap is to help prevent injuries, then maybe MLB needs to take a look at shortening the season a bit. It is a lot of wear and tear on the body.

HEY HEY, Drew (12:58) Im the only Drew around here pal! Change your name...lol

eh true... [btw since the last time ive been there there's another Drew ... sorry for the confusion]

Hey now.... i've posted on here on and off for a year.

Have you? Dam it, I thought I earned my name yesterday when I got @ss raped by the natives...lol

Jim A,

Jints/Skins Sunday night.

Michael PTRS
I COULD NOT CARE LESS!!!!! Teams win World Series not just CRY BABY PRIMADONAS!!!! That is the reason why the teams this decade did not win. THEY WENT FOR THE BIGGEST NAMES not best team players.

Michael PTRS
NEVER A MET FAN. I WILL BE LIKE BROOKLYN DODGER FANS WHO STOP WATCHING ALL TOGETHER!!!!!!

John G,

Ill be shivering in the stands.

also hearing Chuck Knoblauch was on the list - not a great endorsement of the championship teams of the late 90s for us.

Can't Rodriguez just be a man and take responsibility?

Everything that was done was done by the person he hired to do it, the person he spent several well-advertised days holed up with planning all this at the end of the season, the person he's strategized with about his entire career since he was seventeen years old.

All of a sudden he didn't know what was going on?

Please. Give. Me. A. Break.

Michael, I guess this is goodbye then. I hardly knew yeee.

5 Yankees on Report, incl 2/5 of 2007 starters! For shame! No Red Sox starters on list!

Pastore

I'm sure the blog will survive till 2017.

Take care...

Nudge,

Aren't you taking a flask to the game?

Ya gotta get out of that cold climate, Man! :-)

Um Drew...
Did you notice the CAPTAIN of the Red Sox... the most BELOVED Red Sox... the heir to Carlton Fisk.... Mr. Jason Varitek is on the list?

What bigger Red Sox were you looking for?
Maybe Ted Williams' head?

Gene,

I guess you don't view Jason Varitek as a starter?

It's okay, Diane.

Boras is being very well paid to take the fall. It is to Boras's advantage for his client to look like a good guy and for him to look like a shark.

Diane - Thats what Im talking about with the transparent answers. I would love to see Arod come out and say some off the wall sh!t about...I GOT KIDS TO FEED! BUCK BUCK BUCK...DIAMOND -AROD IN THE MOTHER F*CKIN HIZOUS!!! IM GONNA RIP ALL YOU AL PITCHERS A NEW ONE!! I'LL EAT YOUR CHILDREN!!!

John G,

Security likes to confiscate those things....for "safety" reasons....and for later when they are shivering!

Diane
THAT IS THE REASON HE WILL ALWAYS BE A SPOILED RICH BRAT AND NEVER A WINNER!!!!! MARK MY WORDS THE YANKEES WILL NEVER WIN UNTIL HE LEAVES!!!!

Sully, thats at the other Drew right? Drew M.

Sully,

With roids, Ted's head can grow a new body!!!!

Sully,

I see Damon's on the list. He obvioisly took the roids when he was on the Sox because he sucks now.

OK Mike, I guess you wont cheer for him when he finally wins a WS then? Ok, Ill remember, Im like an Elephant.

Nudge,

Yeah, those guys know how to stay warm, don't they?

Then it's on to "Plan B" :

Long Johns!!
Extra socks (this is the key: gotta keep the tootsies warm and dry).
Beenie
Parker with hood

Bonfires (Hey, it worked for jet fans back, what? in the 80's?).

PTRS: I know you had asked about Yankee catchers. EJ Fagan posted his brief description/listing of the top 30 prospects in the Yankees minor league system (all three of the catchers are listed) over on MVN's Pending Pinstripes (let me know if you need the link). A few of things to note if you read the list: 1. Hughes/Joba are considered definite MLB guys, so they are not on the list, but since IPK might be playing at SWB at the beginning of the year, he's on the list, 2. he does not rank anyone coming off of a major injury (Tommy John guys) until he sees them pitch post injury, so you won't see Sanchez, Melancon, etc., and 3. he did not update his list based on trades (you'll still see Tyler Clippard, but with a reference to how he'll do well in the NL East).

Hope you enjoy it!

John G,

I am considering trying to conceal my Camelback bladder in my jacket filled with some potent potables.

To all,

One side effect of steroid use is being prone to connective tissue injury since the muscle strength out paces the ability to connect to the bone so many users experience more frequent injuries, usually as the age.

The artist formerly known as Drew
I was the guy who still booed Strawberry, Gooden & Clemens at the Stadium when they were Yankees. My opinions do not change because somebody changed uniforms. That is my beef with the Yankees of the 80s & 00s, TOO MANY SUPERSTARS NO JUST PLAIN GOOD PLAYERS!!!!!!!! A supertar is not a great player!!!!!

HYD

Thanks ;-)

TOO... MANY... DREWS!

It's like all the anons

Maybe the Sox should give back their titles now that there captain and all around good person Varitek is a juicer.

Michael...
When Gooden threw his no hitter, or Strawberry got big hits to help the 1999 Yankees win it all and when Clemens was throwing goose eggs against the Mariners in the playoffs and against the Braves in the World Series... how loud were you booing?

Just curious

I agree with you on those ones. It never felt right having them on the team. They each proved their worth though ( Doc's no hitter - Clemens throwing at Piazza - Strawberry throwing a ghetto left hook flying into the dugout ), thats when they became family.

I do agree that we got away from what got us the dynasty in the 90's, signing the next best thing instead of building from within. Thats why I hope we keep the kids and start a new dynasty.

Here's the question I have. A player, like Andy, who wasn't sure about returning in the first place. Does he now retire and walk away rather than hang in for another season when he knows he is going to have to answer questions about something that will be embarassing to him and his family?

Varitek should be better if he's a juicer.

HAH So should FARNSWORTH

EVERY World Series winner in this era will have someone on that list

Read it, move on and ask the tough questions come Hall of Fame time.

If it were up to me, both Bonds and Clemens SHOULD be in

Sully |
VERY LOUD I GOT BEERS THROWN AT ME BY YANKEE FANS IN THE STADIUM. Clemens should have been ejected and suspended for the rest of the Subway Series for throwing a bat at Piazza.

Nudge, best way to get around security taking your flask, put it in your hat or underpants. Both have worked for me.

Sully, agreed!

Michael... you were booing during the Gooden no hitter?
Really

REALLY

Why am I currently thinking of a brown substance being pushed from a bull's rectum?

Two Bulls One Cup

HAHA..two Bulls one cup..LOL HILARIOUS!!!

I get to catch internet perverts with a Two Girls One Cup reference!

Chip

He has 16 million reasons say "no comment."

I think he'll survive

Sully are you talking to me?

Chip,

Ill have to try the hat since I dont wear underpants....uh oh... too much information I think.

Phucker,

I agree - but at the same time we all know Andy is, if nothing else, a very proud guy. And he has made a ton of money so it's not like he needs the cash. I'm just saying I would not be shocked if he, and other players, walked away rather than answering more questions, especially the guys whose names we hadn't heard of.

For the record, my opinion of Andy has not changed, he's still a great pitcher and a fantastic Yankee.

Nudge...way too much information.

Players' Association is expected to threaten a strike tonight. Saying that the techniques used to gather information for the Mitchell report were not reliable (people testified under threat of prosecution by the Balco grand jury) and that any penalties and new testing policies are not collectively bargained.

The Red Sox Dynasty (1900's), The Athletics of the 1900's, The Cardinals of the 40's, The Athletics of the 70's and with one more,
you could potentially add in the Red Sox of this generation. So there’s more than just the Yankee dynasty’s.

And there was little need for that irony comment.

Moving on though, heres the ultimate question. I’m sure many teams, including BOS and NYY, will be hit hard. but what are the results of this? Just knowing names, I doubt MLB could punish players now, based on this report.
[/quote]

sorry.... no actually i didn't notice that Varitek was on there actually. Honestly i think the report will be honest because a former senator isn't gonna put his reputation on the line. Just though people would find it interesting to talk about

I'm going to ask a question that will seem nuts, and it might be but bear with me: Does Jose Canseco belong in the Hall of Fame? Not as a player, but you can't deny the impact he has had on the game. His book is what started this whole thing, it led to the BALCO investigation, the Congressional testimony, and ultimately the Mitchell Report.

Chip

I agree and I guess its possible but I just don't think this is as big a deal as some are making it out to be. I can't see Andy allowing this to end his career.

Walking away now just strikes me as weak.

I don't think he walks away in shame over something like this...

In fact I'd be surprised if he doesn't go out and pull a Belichek and start kicking A$$ this year and next.
