Not much significant that is out there: the former Yankees traveling secretary, David Szen, plead guilty to underreporting his income by $53,000 over five years.
And Alex Rodriguez hired a manager from Hollywood (not a new agent): Guy OSeary, who has represented Madonna, Lenny Kravitz, and Penelope Cruz, among others.

Thanks Kat, do you think A-rod will go the route of Jim Brown..quit baseball and become an actor???
At least he can now get tickets to any Kravitz or Madonna concert.
Also in the news today, a Yankees mail clerk was caught jay walking and a janitor was caught spitting on the sidewalk in Grand Central Station. There will be full coverage on these stories and a press conference at 5 pm on ESPN. The Boston Herald was the first to report these stories in their headlines --
Oh, wait. Now they say it wasn't a mail clerk, it was George Mitchell carrying a suspicious report -- and it wasn't a janitor spitting in Grand Central, it was Bud Selig spitting at Yankee Stadium. Under these circumstances, the press conference will be called off and the Boston Herald will be suppressing these stories.
The traveling secretary? Isn't that Costanza's boss? Or was that Wilhelm?
David Szen looks like the monopoly guy. Guess he was trying to buy boardwalk
David Szen looks like the monopoly guy. Guess he was trying to buy boardwalk
Clemens just released a statement denying that he ever used HGH or steroids, ever .
I hope for his sake he is not lying because he will look like an idiot if he does. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt right now because he can't possibly have the b*lls to lie now, can he?
Is the job still open? I'll quit my job right now, right this second and take it if it's available.
Jim A
NO WAY He gets the benefit of the doubt??
From what I've seen there is no doubt...
Once Pettitte copped that "doubt" all but disappeared IMO.
And Jim the balls to lie now?
Is that rhetorical?
Two Words
Barry Bonds
Maybe McNamee likes Pettitte but hates Clemens? I guess that's not possible. Yep, it's totally impossible for McNamee to hate Clemens. McNamee couldn't possibly be a vengeful person, he's just a drug dealer with great morals otherwise. Yep, Clemens HAS to be a cheater because McNamee can't possibly be revengeful, that's just totally impossible.
Michael- The "Raisins" to lie now?
I tend to agree with you, but after one of my Redskins got killed I jumped to conclusions about why it happened (thought it had something to do with his old friends or something) and I turned out to be wrong as the kid died defending his family so I am trying not to ASSume anymore.
The math is simple: No paper trail + no audio + no video + no admission = no proof = Clemens is innocent.
On the left we have Clemens: a family man + Cy Young award winner + future Hall of Famer + a man who has never failed a drug test.
On the right we have McNamee: a snitch + a drug dealer + a man who denies everything until threatened with criminal prosecution.
Verdict: Clemens is innocent.
Clemens did steal an orange Hummer from the Yanks in '03 though and he stole about $18M from them last season so he's not completely innocent :)
Jim A.,
THAT was funny :-)!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anonymous
I never reply to the anonymice but I feel compelled to in this case.
Is it possible that McNamee is just exacting some sort of revenge on Clemens?
Sure I guess.
I guess it's also possible for a player to go from being nearly washed up at the age of 36 to winning 3 more cy youngs into his forties to right?
Yeah...
I guess it's all just some plot!!
Moron.
Haha, Jim, it sure feels like theft to us. Clemens offered to return the Hummer but he was told to keep it. He never offered to return last year's salary, although he actually earned that money honestly. Too bad we didn't pay for per strike out or per inning. We would have saved a bundle.
Mike - LOL. It's possible, look what Bonds did after he turned 40. Guys like that make me believe that anything is possible and dreams can come true. IM GOING TO DISNEYLAND!!!
A 4-week, double-blind Swedish study using 2 doses of HGH and placebo found no differences in subjects exercising on a bicycle in terms of power output and oxygen uptake.[3] In another study, a single injection of HGH increased plasma lactate and reduced exercise performance.[4]
[snip]
In addition to the lack of effectiveness for enhancing athletic performance, HGH has a downside. It can cause dose-related side effects including diabetes, carpal tunnel syndrome, fluid retention, joint stiffness, muscle pain, and high blood pressure.
It turns out that, like Paul Bunyan, the athletic benefits of HGH is a myth.
That's my opinion. I'm Dr. George Griffing, Professor of Medicine at St. Louis University and Editor in Chief of Internal Medicine for eMedicine.
Moron? I don't think so. You're telling me it's impossible for someone to heal and then improve their game? Did you ever think that Clemens could possibly have been injured and then recovered enabling him to improve his play? Do you think it's impossible for him to regain strength and enthusiasm and continue having some good years after some poor ones? Look at Jack LaLanne who has the body of a 20 year old because he developed great eating and exercise habits. Are you saying it's impossible for someone to let themselves go or become injured, do poorly, and then regain their health and fitness to become better? The bottom line is that there is no proof so Clemens has the benefit of the doubt. There are other possibilities that exist as to why McNamee would slander Clemens. It's not impossible. Clemens is innocent until proven guilty and that's all that matters right now.
Anon,
Have you seen Jack LaLane lately? He does not have the body of a 20 year old, maybe the body of a 75 year old is more appropriate, which still isn't bad considering he's over 90. The exaggeration makes your argument look a little less realistic.
Also, I guess one could argue that the last couple of years Clemens was simply not motivated and hated it in Boston, then got inspired after hearing that he was "in the twilight" of his career.
This is me just playing devil's advocate of course as too many athletes seem to be letting us fans down lately so it's hard to believe anything you hear from them.
PTRS and Dru:
Why don't you two develop an age and performance chart so that teams will know when to get rid of players. You two seem so sure you know what's possible and impossible physically that the two of you will make a fortune as advisers. Yeah, the human body is totally predictable according to you two. Why don't team owners already know that? I guess it's because they're morons, huh?
Anon
This is not a criminal trial and this is not a court room so save the Innocent until proven guilty Horse$hit.
The guy did it.
You know it.
I know it.
And Clemens knows it to.
That all being said I still don't give a $hit. I'd put up statues of him Bonds McGuire in the hall of fame TOMORROW.
Jim,
Jack LaLanne is fantastic for his age. Maybe looking 20 was an exaggeration but that's not the real point. He does things 20 year olds can't do so that's what I should have said. Age is not always a deciding factor in how well someone can perform. You were just talking about Rickey Henderson, how fit he was for a 50 year old. What's he taking? Can we assume he's on something because he's uniquely fit for his age? People age differently. Athletes have good years and bad years. They are not always consistent. You made some good points about Clemens being unhappy in Boston. There's one good reason for improvement right there. Great point.
Why don't team owners already know that? I guess it's because they're morons, huh?
-----------------------------------------
No
You are the moron.
Unless you own a team the answer is no.
PTRS:
This is not a trial so there is no submission of evidence. But it's a blog where people are allowed to express opinions and that's what I'm doing. I see from your dictatorial attitude you think you're in control here. People who don't agree with you are morons. Keep your closed mind, keep trying to dictate what people blog about, assume the world is filled with criminals, pretend you know it all. That's all right. You better hope if you're ever wrongly accused you're not treated the same way you treat other people. That will be a sorry lesson for you, buddy.
If keeping an open mind and considering all factors involved makes me a moron, so be it. I'd rather be a moron than be like you. Thanks for the compliment.
Well anon, I wouldnt go as far as to call them morons. Statistics are fairly accurate barometers though. Like in the NFL, RB’s start to break down after 30. It happens to 99% of them like Shaun Alexander, Terrell Davis and countless others. Are there exceptions to the rule? Sure there are. Same for baseball, for the most part throughout the 120 year history of the sport, players do not get better after the age of 32, it just doesn’t happen. Maybe guys are taking care of themselves more these days giving them the ability to improve their numbers at older ages…or maybe there’s something else.
Look at Rogers numbers.
93 – Age 30 – 191 inn – 160 K – 1.263 WHIP - 4.46 ERA
94 – Age 31 – 170 inn – 168 K – 1.443 WHIP – 2.85 ERA
95 – Age 32 – 140 inn – 132 K – 1.436 WHIP – 4.86 ERA
HERE COMES THE SPIKES
96 – Age 33 – 242 inn – 257 K – 1.327 WHIP – 3.63 ERA
97 – Age 34 – 246 inn – 292 K – 1.030 WHIP – 2.05 ERA
98 – Age 35 – 234 inn – 271 K – 1.095 WHIP – 2.65 ERA
99 – Age 36 – 187 inn – 163 K – 1.465 WHIP – 4.60 ERA
Those were some pretty impressive years from 33 to 35, actually the three best years of his career innings wise, K/9.
Bonds is the same way
30 – 33 HR
31 – 42 HR
32 – 40 HR
33 – 37 HR
34 – 34 HR
HERE COMES THE SPIKES ( every year after 35 he had career highs in HR’s from before the age of 35 )
35 – 49 HR
36 – 73 HR
37 – 46 HR
38 – 45 HR
39 – 45 HR
The reason the HR’s at age 35,37,38,39 weren’t higher is because they stopped pitching to him.
Could they have done it naturally, sure they could of. Could they have had some help, sure they could of. I cant tell you they did or didn’t, Im just making some observations and jokes about the situation to lighten the mood. The point is, we will never know 100% one way or the other if they did this naturally or with assistance.
Moron (much better when you have a name)
If I were wrongly accused I would take legal action.
Clemens isn't pursuing such recourse?
Why?
Would you allow someone to slander your life's work with impunity?
Dude connect the dots.
You sound out of touch with reality.
1. Clemens got better as he got older..That works for wine and Tiki Barber not baseball players.
2. Pettitte legitimized this "drug dealer" I for one find it incredibly suspicious that Andy was the juicer between the two and Roger was the church going choir singer...R..i..g..h...t....
Clemens is the boyscout Andy is the bad boy..
Whatever I was gonna add to the list but don't feel it worthy of my time to dig up stats etc...
I'm sorry to call you a moron but at this point you have no name...
PTRS:
It's obvious you don't have all the facts and you're making judgments. Bad move. Mitchell and McNamee were given IMMUNITY. THEY CANNOT BE SUED. Not fair, is it? They thought of everything beforehand.
It's not likely someone improves with age but it's not impossible. We know players could have bad years, they could have injuries, unhappiness, they might not be working out, could have poor diet -- lots of things could cause a player to have bad years and then improve when things change. That's all I'm saying, that it's possible.
I'm not making a case for Clemens innocence. I'm just saying it's possible he's innocent because he's not admitting to anything and there's no proof yet, just the word of a less than honorable man. Show me the proof and I'll consider it. Until then Clemens is innocent in my eyes. Sorry if you feel offended by my opinion.
Me(formally moron)
That's not true only Mitchell has immunity.
Sorry that's a fact.
DRU,
Thanks for the numbers. You're looking at a 125 year history and that's not fair. People are living longer due to better health and modern technology. 2,000 years ago people only lived to age 32. Today they can live to 120. You have to look at modern medicine and health in a different light today compared to 125 years ago.
PTRS:
That's not what I read about McNamee. I beg to differ.
Oh I guess Michael PTRS is a real identifier of sorts. We all know exactly who you are now. Sheesh, why didn't I think of that.
Why am I continuing to argue with you? This is becoming absurd. You're ignorance is not worth my time. Have a nice life, turd.
Me - I see what you're saying, but we really only have to look 20-30 years ago and we can see the same drop off in production after the early to mid 30's. Like I said though, people are taking better care of themselves these days so it is possible, just not probable. Either way, we will never know the truth 100% one way or the other.
Moron
Look it up.
Only Mitchell has immunity.
Heard Jack Lalanne was caught in 2000 using Monkey Growth Hormone aka Chimp Pituitary Glands. This would explain his propensity to consume large amounts of bananas in a seating.
Clemens - did it. Probably. Innocent until proven guilty, unfortunately like Bonds. Although, Bonds said he used it, but didn't know it was'nt flax seed oil. And to think, I was about ready to make my comeback at the young age of 45.
Guess it is really over...
Mike, LOL, good stuff...from one Jersey boy to another….SALUTE!!!
HEY TURD: FROM USA TODAY: PROFILE ON MC NAMEE:
HE WAS GRANTED IMMUNITY. READ ABOUT IT -- IF YOU KNOW HOW TO READ, TURD:
Profile: Brian McNamee
Updated 4d 20h ago
THE MITCHELL REPORT
From staff reports
Brian McNamee earned the "controversial" label well before his name appeared prominently in former Sen. George Mitchell's report on steroid use in baseball.
The man who told Mitchell's investigators that he injected steroids into Roger Clemens and human growth hormone into Andy Pettitte didn't have his contract with the New York Yankees after the 2001. That decision, according to the New York Daily News, came weeks after McNamee was questioned by police in St. Petersburg, Fla., in connection with an alleged sexual assault.
McNamee, a former baseball player at St. John's University and onetime New York Yankees strength and conditioning coach, got caught in the federal investigation that had already ensnared former New York Mets clubhouse attendant Kirk Radomski. HE WAS OFFERED IMMUNITY FOR HIS COOPERATION, which included meeting with Mitchell three times.
McNamee served as Clemens personal trainer at the start of the Clemens most recent comeback. But Clemens told the Daily News in May that he was "searching for some people" after he unexpectedly dropped McNamee.
So now the headcase drama queen needs a Hollywood "manager". I thought he was just a baseball player??? Totally UNBELIEVABLE!!!!
Rick,
Where the heck you been man?
Yeah, it's weird that A-Rod had to hire this guy but if you think about it, he gets killed for every move he makes so he might as well have a PR guy on hand. He's not the first guy to have one, by the way as a lot of the players use Howard Rubinstein's (George's PR guy) son.
Jeter has his own PR staff so don't go blasting away at A-Rod just yet.
This move was to put a line between A-Rod and Boras, as A-Rod said, why fire Boras now when he has signed his last contract and paid the guy $15M? Make him earn it but keep him away from the publicity side of the A-Rod empire and that's a smart thing to do.
Because of his salary, he is a magnet for publicity no matter what he does and to some media and fans, nothing he does is right. Look at the NY Times article a couple of weeks ago where they pointed out that he was evicting people from apartments he owns. What they neglected to point out was that he bought the buildings, got rid of the drug dealers, cleaned up and modernized the apartments and charged a very reasonable rate for rent and when people DID NOT PAY he evicted them....yet he gets killed for that in the paper for putting these poor people on the street.
Hopefully this guy can handle his public relations and he'll use Boras to handle his law related items and he won't have to talk to Boras. The circle of trust gets pretty small when you make that kind of money I guess.
