Melky Cabrera will be honored at the 28th annual Thurman Munson Awards Dinner on Tues., Feb. 5th at the Marriott Marquis Hotel. The dinner benefits the AHRC New York City Foundation. Also to be honored are Mets third baseman David Wright, just-retired Astro Craig Biggio, the Knicks' Jamal Crawford and Olympic figure skater Kristi Yamaguchi.
The foundation is a not-for-profit that supports programs for children and adults with developmental disabilities.
Interesting to see Melky, who's been much talked about in trade rumors, get honored here in NY. Hopefully the Santana business will be resolved by then. Either way, it will be interesting to get Melky's thoughts on the near-trade (or of course if he gets traded to the Twins).

Wow
I really hope the Mets get this deal done and fast!!
This whole fiasco has left me emotionally exhausted lol.
Seriously though...
I don't hate the Mets like most of us here. I don't watch their games or anything but I go to shea when invited by my mets friends and it will be cool watching Santana embarrass the pathetic national league.
I loved Hughes and I still do. I truly believe he's one pitch away from being "Josh Beckett Light"
They have very slimilar pitches...
-Sick 12-6 curve
-Good fastballs Phil (90-92) Beckett (94-96) though both are kinda straight hence making both "fly ball and homerun prone pitchers" (Beckett in 06 33 hr agnst)
The difference is...THE ELEPHANT THAT I'VE BEEN SCREAMING ABOUT-The 3rd pitch.
Beckett was terrible in the 06 season because he relied too heavily on his fastball and curve and kind of left his change up out because in the NL he didn't really need it.
I say "Josh Beckett light" because Phil will never have his velocity, but the change up for any starter in my opinion is paramount to being successful and it's what made Beckett so dominant in his second season in the AL.
Give Phil a change up and he becomes our number one tomorrow.
*Sigh* It sure would've been nice to have a cy young left hander pitching in yankee stadium with the short porch in right etc...
NICE MELK!!!!! Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the new Bernie Williams! ( wont do the Bernie / Melk side by side again, but believe me, IT LOOKS GREAT!!! )

‘Meanest mom’ sells car after finding liquor
Iowa woman shares teen son’s misdeed with the world via newspaper ad

DES MOINES, Iowa - Jane Hambleton has dubbed herself the "meanest mom on the planet."
After finding alcohol in her son's car, she decided to sell the car and share her 19-year-old's misdeed with everyone — by placing an ad in the local newspaper.
The ad reads: "OLDS 1999 Intrigue. Totally uncool parents who obviously don't love teenage son, selling his car. Only driven for three weeks before snoopy mom who needs to get a life found booze under front seat. $3,700/offer. Call meanest mom on the planet."[/quote]
Melky may not be our true CF in the future but I like what he brings to the park. This in conjunction with his infectious attitude and friendship helps win pennants and WS's. I know Santana 's worth but if the Yanks move away then we just get him by default. Its worth a try.
Melky would look great in RF with his arm and bat which will get better.
Larry Flynt...couldnt agree more!
looks like melky may be gone no matter what:
